THANK YOU! WE just ordered permethrin and cotton balls in order to make these. Hey, if the cottonballs are drying there in your kitchen, then vaporized particles are landing on your countertops... at least theoretically. Better to work outside, or in a mud room where such might be helpful

I use permethrin to treat my clothing, but I have misgivings about "tick tubes". Permethrin has been used for years on dogs in shampoo treatments. Now, Permethrin resistant brown dog ticks are emerging. This widespread environmental use of permethrin will accelerate the emergence of permethrine resistant deer ticks. Just use permethrine for personal protection so we can enjoy it's benefits for years to come.

Knowledgeable people don't need toxins for their animals. They give them the same food grade DE that they themselves consume. They also put it in the animal's bedding or nest boxes and litter. For larger animals they rub it into the animal's fur. It will eliminate all the internal and external hitchhikers, including the lyme infected fleas that most untreated cats carry. Some people only feed it to their animals, without realizing that it must also be used externally. But for us we have to settle for mostly its internal benefits.

The universal issue is central around TICKS. But ticks are only one of many vectors for Lyme and Lyme type microbes. A surprising vector for me was yellow jackets, which, as I later learned, had both bitten and stung me. One of the most common vectors is the fleas on a cat. But any bug or spider bite can be serious.

This is such a bad idea for wildlife. Mice are a main source of food for foxes, owls, hawks, etc. So what happens when one of those larger animals eats a permethrin soaked mouse? They eat enough of them and they die. THEN you have an explosion in the mouse population because their predators have all died. THEN you have an explosion in ticks because you have more mice.
And lets say the predator doesn't die. But they have permethrin inside of them. What happens to their eggs, to their babies? Who knows! There ahve been 0 studies. But I can't help but imagine it might have a similar impact that DDT had on Bald Eagles and their too thin egg shells.
