I just had the surgery. My advice research your surgeon and ASK QUESTIONS. I had surgery Wednesday and was out and about on Saturday walking and driving. Im taking it easy very minimal bending wearing Crocs mostly to avoid leaning over to tie my shoes. Only use 1 pain pill per day as maintenance, but tomorrow being a week will be my last day taking one. All good so far.
I had the surgery 5 days ago and am still in excruciating pain with no relief from the pain pills
Lol
Hope it's getting better. I'm post surgury 9 days. I'm out of pain. I feel the healing now
I am almost 4 years out post surgery and I am still out of work. The worst recovery ever.
I,m wearing the collar for two months
Strange , my Dr has me restricted to 20 lbs for 1 year for full recovery
this is the group that is going to do my surgery i do fell scared cause i have other problems and it seems like they will rush you out even if you are suffering and my body cant take that i need surgery cause my neck and shoulder and hand is very weak and in a lot of pain i would rather it be done from the back of my neck not the front
Hello, I’m a 41 year old carpenter and I have an impingement from a bulging disc and a ruptured fluid sac. I don’t have pain in my neck all the time only when I sleep on it wrong. But I have lost major strength in my dominant arm. I have only really talked to 1 neurosurgeon who wants to do the ACDF on my c4-5 and c5-6. I’m very hesitant to get this surgery because I’m not always in pain and I don’t want to end up that way. But I do need to use my arm for work. Anyone have any suggestions? Reading the above comments I learned about laser surgery for the disc so I will be looking into that thanks.
I had 3 removed it wasn’t easy I will never recommend anyone do it unless there was no other hope. I stayed in my collar longer because I was afraid still now 3 months out on a long drive I’m in a support collar. They want you to gain your neck muscles back so this is why they rather you not wear it. I am someone who worked out on a regular basis so I strengthened my body and neck I’m about 2 weeks into physical therapy and it’s not so bad.
Hi. How are you doing now. I have had the same surgery 4 months ago. Still get slight arm pain and aching neck but was wondering how you are at the stage your at ? Thanks
I’m 2 weeks post ops& I’m having horrific spasms in my upper neck which spreads to my shoulders, is that normal? Also I’m still having swallowing issues
I have a herniated disc Between C6 and C7. I am really afraid to get the surgery if it’s absolutely necessary. I have weakness in my left arm and my hand shakes if I try to for example pour water for a cup of coffee or when I said something down on the counter thankfully I am right handed. But the shaking or should I say weakness in my left hand is scary but I am just so afraid to have the surgery done :(
I waited a long time 3 years because I wanted to try other things I was deathly afraid of the surgery I’m 60 and felt I was just too old to get this as my body might not bounce back. I had the surgery 10 days ago I have to say the nerve pain I had for 3 years is totally gone still some weakness in my hands but I think it will recover. You will be swollen and throat pain the first week I thought it was Wednesday and it was Saturday so it flew by all I could do was sleep and drink broth and try to walk. It’s not as bad as I thought but I’m on 10 days... my nerve damage would have been years of issues.
Did you do the surgery? If not I would recommend getting a second opinion by Duekspine Institute in Florida. They do Laser Disc repair. Its a much better outcome. I had Acdf 4 months ago. It ruined my life. Trust me there is too many complications with this surgery.
@@lawrencefil5 Yes my nerve damage was so bad I had to do it my life was at risk my disc were gone I was bone on bone by time I had my surgery. I now 3 months out started PT and I’m trying to heal. Over the years I had taken good care of my body working out yoga weight training on a regular basis so I guess that’s why made it out ok. I’m still concerned about long term effects and will be watched and tested this first year the 2x a year. It’s not easy I’m in NJ and there were people from TN, FL, OH and CA coming to see my doctor he was pretty good.
