the way this song references "a modest proposal" by jonathan swift, while also faintly referencing how saturn devours his son in roman mythology, in order to paint a picture of late-stage capitalism and how it impacts young people. hozier, you GENIUS. i will forever be obsessed with his use of poetry.
i thought it would be appropriate to pair this song with art of characters from the show, "yellowjackets." a song that suggests eating our young would be far better than subjecting them to the horrors of modern society, feels like it fits really well with characters from a show where wilderness and cannibalism symbolize the violence of girlhood.
