Takeaway? Manliness is subjective and aesthetically nondeterministic. As shown here, the idea that manliness is tied to one's appearance falls apart as soon as the frivolity and fragility of culture is revealed by time. The Femboy who sticks to his guns is more manly than the tatted-up motorcycle rider who refuses to stand by those he loves.
No? Manliness is very much objective and is defined by rationality, stoicism and regarding fashion, function over form. None of thr clothes displayed here were ever considered masculine and were highly ridiculed in theatres as well as by the military. The clothing was worn by the nobility, mostly women, to display wealth, not masculinity. The idea that masculinity is not tied to one's appearence immidiatly falls apart once pointing out the various strawmen in the contemporary narrative of some mythically fragile culture are revealed. The dude who dresses practically and modestly is infinetly more masculine than some femboy who bows to some impractical and ridiculous fashion styles.
@@dwarow2508 Saying that masculinity is objective is simply not true, you just named your own interpretation of masculinity informed by contemporary western ideals. Who have their own serious flaws like claiming rationality as a trait one gender posses. Anyone who has heard of the work of Noether would know this to be a poor definition. However to define masculinity in such a way is as pointless and risky as defining culture. Culture is a social construct, obviously, it doesn't have a biological ergo physical cause but rather is the shared ideal that binds people together. If you now define culture to be the on you adhere too, well everyone else is not uncultured and I do not have to go into how that can spark superiority complexes. Furthermore since gender norms are social constructs we may choose to interpret them any way we want why not let people dress how they are the happiest? The world no longer is a battle for survival otherwise we would concur in the importance of function over form.
Men stopped wearing skirts and high heels because woman started doing it If women start following a fashion for men the men refuse to continue that fashion
Not only for fashion, the same goes with careers and lot of things too. For example when more females started to study laws, psychology, to be a school teacher and some science careers like Medicine, Chemistry and Biology, men declined and stopped to study them which is sad because the little boys who go to primaries doesn't have enough male role models. Other great example is with the books, most literary communities are now dominated by girls and women, boys don't want to touch a books. I'd said a lot of other examples but is sad when men and boys relegates themselves to do and like certain activities because are dominated by the other gender now
Hey guys, did you know that in terms of renaissance cosplay, Astolfo is the perfect representation of male costume design? It's true! Not only does his appearance almost perfectly match the era's kings, but the other parts like the trouser suspension method and shirts perfectly replicate what civilians wore. Astolfo is also considered a Palladian which was most commonly found during that era. Plus, the gender association for pink and blue were the opposite of what we expect today. Also, fun fact, sodomy was perfectly legal, and sometimes encouraged during that era, so go wild

@@marxistvalorie i said it as a joke calm tf down!
