Yes Miley seems so comfortable and happy with her voice, she doesn't try to change it to fit the songs. Her raspiness, "dark" deep sound brings the uniqueness to her songs and any songs she covers. Mark and Miley seem to respect each other so much! :)

Personally I go gaga when a woman can hit a very low note or can sing consistently in a lower register. Part of it is personal preference (for instance I prefer hearing a cello over a violin), part of it is frustration because you just don't get praised enough from a technical standpoint. It's come to a point where in pop music even men gets praised for hitting high notes but if they show proficiency in their lower register people are like "whatever".
I love Marina (and the Diamonds) and Emilie Autumn's voices, they can sing in beautiful low rates and I actually find low voices of (female) singers very sexy! Don't worry about others and blow them away with your talent. ❤️

The Bobby Bland version happens to be my least favorite version of the song mostly because of the instrumentation. Miley and Adele are hands down my favourite modern female vocalists. There are a lot of other stupendously talented vocalists but there is something so casually worn in and well loved and warm and raw and interesting about those two. Their personalities are big, open, authentic, raw and vulnerable and it comes through in their voices. Like well worn, much loved leather and denim. And just so easy. Watching and listening to both of them, it just sounds like it’s the easiest thing in the world. I find Miley’s tone addictive.

I know this video is a week old but i just now saw it... THANK YOU for complimenting female singers with naturally lower voices! I'm a 25 year old female and I grew up singing in church, often with other people... lots of duets included. But most females have the same range... I do not. I can easily sing male-lead songs. I always thought it was weird but most people around me seem to love the uniqueness of my vocal range. I also always wondered just how "marketable" my voice is, but... clearly very marketable! Lol. It's way deeper than Miley's, to be honest. Also I loved this cover... and your reaction!

Miley... I love her. I respect the heck out of her. She started out young, & even if you haven’t loved all her music. I encourage ppl to listen to the lyrics. She tells so much in her songs. When I heard this cover, I have to admit I like it way better than AG’s vocal version. You can hear ever word & she brings us along throughout the song. She doesn’t try to make our ears bleed just because she can. I’ve sworn off most female artists. Not because I don’t like any of them, but ... *thinking of a way to explain* .... ok my sister is legally deaf. She can hear, but only certain tones. I hear too well. I have been pulled aside many times to repeat hearing tests. I hear extremely high tones, & they want to confirm I wasn’t just guessing. So when female or male singers show just how high their range is, it literally hurts my ears. Chronic migraines have made it 100 x worse. Miley has a very unique voice. She has also been through a lot. All of this adds up to being taken on a vocal trip throughout every song she sings. I like that she has been an actress! Acting coaches teach you how to enunciate properly, & to take the “part” or song and make it yours. PS I love watching your reactions also!
