If you have a smaller cage for your gerbils, I recommend using tortoise terrain as their bedding, it holds tunnels amazingly and encourages natural instincts because it’s a bit like sand.
This is one of the only ones with a deltof, and I might be getting a deltof soon for my gerbils and I love this video so I think that you did great 🌹🌹🌻

Its just that i already have 2 floor mansion for my gerbil Zelda 😂😂 i bought her a material sack like bag to sleep in on 2nd floor but she bit the fur and material out, she still sleeps in it though, also she has a tiny snack bowl with some berry flavour drops she likes to eat ONLY when everyones asleep 😂. She also has a wheel on 1st floor but for some reason she doesnt use it... idk why, and water jug on 1st floor aswell. On ground floor she has a coconut hut, her food bowl and a tunnel, also a dangling toy down the back of the cage. All around the cage there are cute safely painted wooden toys (painted in fruits and veggies), they are just in random spaces, she likes to sharp her teeth on them. I feed her a mix for gerbils. Everyday i provide her vegetables (mostly carrots and cucumbers) and sometimes some fruits like apples. Even though gerbils dont drink alot of water (because their habitat used to be in the desert) i still everyday change her water, and provide her fresh filtered water. I like to buy her sunflower seeds, i take her out onto my bed (she tries running away) but somehow i try to feed her the seeds to get used to me more. (I only have my gerbil for 2-3 weeks now, i got her for christmas, it was an early gift. I was going to get a rat but the cage for the rat that was needed was WAAAY too big, the rats name was going to be Lola, it got me upset that i couldnt get her. But i am happy with Zelda. I named her Zelda because of her whole fur being dark and a single thin stripe going down her throat, in old German i was told that the word/name Zelda means dark war, which i chose for her because shes all dark, she is also 1 month old and wont grow anymore)
im going to get gerbils soon and idk how many but if i get gerbils i'm getting them the detolf and they'll be female, what beddings best that you can find in the usa or canada? also idk how many i should get
Hi Pets Palace, thank you for all of your videos. I have read that regular child's sand is too rough for gerbils' coat, but I find that gerbil and chinchilla sand are very hard to find where I live. Have you heard this regarding regular child's sand?
I believe children's playsand is ok, but not the best for their coat. I've used it in the past but I think I sterilised it in the oven first. Chinchilla sand is best. Are you able to order online? :)
My gerbils destroy absolutly everything from hay things to plastic to wood things. 😟 I've tried everything. So now their cage is quite boring.🙍 Ineed an other solution, could u help me please. Ur my favourite utuber☺😃😁😀🐁🐀🐹🐭🐇🐕
They need things to chew on or their teeth might grow to long. You can ask your family and friends to collect toilet paper rolls and give these to your mice. (I asked neighbors etc. and they would give me big bags filled with toilet paper rolls every once in a while. They chew them up quite fast (no worries, they don't eat them) Branches and twigs from fruit trees are good too (just make sure you are allowed to take a few and that they are not poisonous to your mice) Plastic is an absolute no-no! They might even hurt themselves.
Petspalacetv I went and got my gerbil and I asked the store clerk which wood shaving I should use and she said she recommends not using wood shavings because they can actually go up your gerbils genitalia and they would have to go to the vet to have it/them removed so I only use recycled cotton material bedding at my local pet store

We adopted two gerbils off the internet. And put them together. They are inseparable. But as all animals go, it depends on their personality if they are going to get along. If they fight too much separate them.
Hay is good, but won’t hold tunnels. Alternative layers with other bedding could work, or using it in shallow areas. It’s also good for them to eat and chew. I can’t comment on aspen

You may give your gerbil branches from hardwood trees, so long as you know the trees were not sprayed, painted or chemically treated. Your pet will chew through soft woods in no time. Pet stores also sell blocks of wood for gerbils and hamsters; these are convenient and safe for your pet.
Please could you tell me how you are able to move the enclosure when you need to? I just got two gerbils and I can't stand seeing them in the 'large' cage I had to buy them, but I can't manage a heavy glass tank 😔
I prefer feeding them from a bowl/dish instead of scatter feeding so I know how much they are eating. I have 2 gerbils and is a digging section needed? I have an area with lots of bedding but not like anything in their for them to dig up.
Scatter feeding is better. If you want to make sure they eat enough just observe them (you do not have to take them out for this) you can also feed them treats once in a while by hand (mealworms, pumpkin seeds, dried fruit). Do not feed treats like these daily. You can also offer fruits and veggies more often. These can be fed in a bowl, though they like to carry and hide them. They do need a digging area. What you need for 1 to 2 Gerbils is: MINIMUM (Now a days even this is often considered too small) -100cm (length) 40cm (wide) 40cm (tall) -> 40 INCH x 16 INCH x 16 INCH -> 43 Gallons These measurements are necessary to have without extra floors. Extra floors can be added additional, but then the tank should be higher. For 3 males you will need even more space! Keeping 3 males is trickier than keeping females. You might need to separate them, so plan on enough space to accommodate them separately. What else do you need: -Min. 20-40 cm. deep bedding for digging -A sand bath -A week with min. 25 cm in diameter (It can not be smaller or else their backs will get hurt! Bigger is always better!) -Chewing material such as toilet paper rolls, twigs, branches etc. (No plastic in the cage please!) -1 hut/house/shelter per mouse
Well you don't have to scatter feed but what I do is give them their food in a bowl, then whatever they don't eat, the next day I scatter it and refill their bowl.They tend to bury the bowl so I keep it up on top of hideaways and such

I suggest not because your gerbils may want to clean their fur at night as they are animals that are awake at night.

The best medium is a composty mix of sawdust and earth. They love making burrows, which is what they would have in the wild.

Do not put plastic with a gerbil.
Have the majority of things in your cage made from gerbil safe, thick wood. This may help them not chew thru everything so fast.

Can I just get some random sticks from my front garden and put them with my gerbils?
You may give your gerbil branches from hardwood trees, so long as you know the trees were not sprayed, painted or chemically treated. Your pet will chew through soft woods in no time. Pet stores also sell blocks of wood for gerbils and hamsters; these are convenient and safe for your pet.

Please could you tell me how you are able to move the enclosure when you need to? I just got two gerbils and I can't stand seeing them in the 'large' cage I had to buy them, but I can't manage a heavy glass tank 😔

I prefer feeding them from a bowl/dish instead of scatter feeding so I know how much they are eating. I have 2 gerbils and is a digging section needed? I have an area with lots of bedding but not like anything in their for them to dig up.
Scatter feeding is better. If you want to make sure they eat enough just observe them (you do not have to take them out for this) you can also feed them treats once in a while by hand (mealworms, pumpkin seeds, dried fruit). Do not feed treats like these daily. You can also offer fruits and veggies more often. These can be fed in a bowl, though they like to carry and hide them.
They do need a digging area.
What you need for 1 to 2 Gerbils is:
MINIMUM (Now a days even this is often considered too small)
-100cm (length) 40cm (wide) 40cm (tall)
-> 40 INCH x 16 INCH x 16 INCH -> 43 Gallons
These measurements are necessary to have without extra floors. Extra floors can be added additional, but then the tank should be higher.
For 3 males you will need even more space!
Keeping 3 males is trickier than keeping females. You might need to separate them, so plan on enough space to accommodate them separately.
What else do you need:
-Min. 20-40 cm. deep bedding for digging
-A sand bath
-A week with min. 25 cm in diameter (It can not be smaller or else their backs will get hurt! Bigger is always better!)
-Chewing material such as toilet paper rolls, twigs, branches etc. (No plastic in the cage please!)
-1 hut/house/shelter per mouse
Well you don't have to scatter feed but what I do is give them their food in a bowl, then whatever they don't eat, the next day I scatter it and refill their bowl.They tend to bury the bowl so I keep it up on top of hideaways and such

Lauren Sharples I don't know for sure but I have heard that they can - try not to handle them much until your cold has gone, this will give them enough time to settle into their new home well and before feeding/cleaning them wash your hands just to be on the safe side. Thank you! :) x
