Coming from St. Louis, MO, one of my favorite things about Charlotte and NC in general is the black history. Far more common seeing successful black people in NC than MO
I'm from STL, actually E Saint. STL on all sides is a horrible place to raise black children if you want them to grow up to be financially stable. Moving to NC changed my perspective of what the average black person can achieve w/o having to move around nothing but white folks. If I move back it's probably going to be to Clayton or Richmond heights other than that STL is too rough with too few opportunities to make it worth moving my kids back there.

We moved to Boston from there and regretted it. Decided to come back to Raleigh but got a job in Charlotte. Been here for 8 months and have already fallen in love!!!!! Your descriptions of Charlotte are exact also!!!

You know it's an automatic like when these sisters upload a video. Always detailed, thoroughly researched. Chocked full of information and inspiration. Keep producing content ladies.
If you’re trying to move to NC do it now because a lot of the cities like Raleigh, Knightdale & Charlotte is getting expensive. A lot of homes that use to be 80k are now 220k & above in Raleigh now. I’m from Raleigh, NC. I wouldn’t move to Durham especially with all the shooting and violence that they have going on, I know because I use to work in Durham & some of my friends live there but in the process of leaving because they don’t feel safe even though people are trying to change Durham. I will say Durham do have some good restaurants and the hospital’s are good. Knightdale is growing very fast especially how it use to look. Charlotte such a beautiful city to live in & it’s very diverse.
I purchased my house 10 years ago in Raleigh when things were still afforable. Now I would not be able to afford the house I purchased 10 years ago because the housing market has become so expensive! DMV will always be my #1 place to live in the US but way too expensive! Thankful I purchased when I did since I am a NC native 😊
Not only that but A LOT of Blacks have been pushed out of the cities on this list. Not only that but most of these cities had less than 30% of a Black population and in the past several years many moved out to smaller nearby towns or just left NC because the cost of living skyrocketed. It will be interesting to see what the new census says about the population rate for these cities when it is completed. I know for a fact it has plummeted.
SheisAware i’m so thankful that my parents bought their house back in 1997 in Raleigh,NC and they don’t own a mortgage no more but taxes because the prices have went sky high now. A lot of the homes in the “hood” are being bought out for 90k-100k & reselling them for over 250k smh 🤦🏻♀️
DD Newton Thats amazing to hear that you bought your house when you did. The prices compare to what they use to be are super expensive smh 🤦🏻♀️, i’m glad Raleigh (wake county ) is growing but dang they are trying their hardest to kill our pockets smh 🤦🏻♀️ even the country past Knightdale the homes are getting expensive and that’s a 30 + drive from Raleigh.
Work in the city but live outside of it. Thats a good way to get more house for your money. I live in Raleigh and have noticed the difference in house prices that maybe 30-45mins away.
@@jayfatzthedude I live in Atlanta and traffic is horrible. In the Raleigh-durham area how is the traffic? How far a drive Zebulon is from Raleigh? How far a drive is Mebane from Durham? How far a drive Bahama is from Durham? Going to work and coming from work.
Russell Adams Mebane to downtown Durham 25 mins Zebulon to Raleigh is about 15-20 downtown also. Their are tons on surrounding towns in the Triangle. Which is Durham-Raleigh-Chapel Hill. You really want to find any property in Bethesda Durham/Raleigh border tons of new build and even fixer uppers. Traffic can get tight coming from and too Raleigh between 4:45pm-6:30pm Durham gets backed up in residential areas near 27713. I stay in the 27713 zip code and traffic gets tight but never at a stand still. Weekends traffic always flow better than the weekday. Honestly nothing but NYC,DC, Jersey, Boston traffics compares to Atlanta. North Carolina is nothing compared to that. Oh also Durham traffic going down Duke St after 5pm all of Durham Traffic can be bypassed once you learn the secondary roads. Durham’s Traffic gird isn’t circular like most cities is setup on a quad with four major roads that can easily get you on either side of town.
I'm from a small town called tabor city NC it's 20 minutes from myrtle beach and it's racist but it's the crime we do to each other it's Columbus county and it's a dangerous major drug infested area because of the docks in Wilmington that's only 40 min drive away I promise people buy 22 and 25 caliber guns on the streets for under 50 dollars that sells for about 200 dollars on Durham and Raleigh city streets I moved to Durham to leave

Clayton, 27520 resident here. Moved here in 2013 from New Jersey. Love my multi racial neighborhood. The average home price in my sub-division is now north of 400k. I paid 260k. Shortly after I moved in, my neighbors welcomed me to the neighborhood with an old fashioned cookout. I thought that was THE best. I absolutely love my neighbors and my neighborhood. We really look out for each other. When a neighbor needs help with something, other neighbors come running. When someone is away, we guard their property like our own. I’ll be here forever 😁
Hi, I recently visited clayton nc however; I didn't stay long.while visiting I didn't see a larger shopping center..maybe I missed it? Do you guys have lots of shopping options?
Outside of my sub-division, Clayton has grown by leaps and bounds. The Traffic on the main drags has increased because of people moving into the town. Builders have been building houses, townhouses and Apartments all over town because of Clayton’s small town reputation and proximity to Raleigh. Don’t let that deter you, it’s happening all over the triangle region. 🤷🏽♂️

I just recently moved to Greenville South Carolina but it's only temporary I plan on moving permanently to Charlotte north Carolina and I can not wait. Great video by the way.
Great video. I moved from Jersey to Charlotte over 10 years ago. I have seen the city grow so much in a short period of time. Best decision I made in my life.
Love this channel. I'm from Canada and live in a predominantly white small town so this is refreshing to see. This takes me outside my country to see other places and these cities that you showcase on your channel in the US are beautiful and looks so warm. Would love to see Virginia.
Great video. Very informative and well researched. I’ve lived in NC for 48 years and I’ve seen a lot of steady growth and change. I currently live in your #2, the 27713 zip code of Durham but I have previously lived in one of the others on your list. Our state is blessed to be well situated geographically and to have had some very capable governors. Other nice places that didn’t make the list but are worth considering for anyone interested in NC are Winston-Salem, Wilmington, and Asheville (for those who enjoy the mountains). Thank you for doing this video!!!
This is a well made video. North Carolina is a great place to live, work, and play. These cities are the focus of North Carolina for Black people. I would suggest looking at smaller communities surrounding communities along the I-40/85 corridor if you are looking for a small town feel. Not mentioned in this video if you are thinking about relocating to the state. The best thing about North Carolina is if you live in the middle of the state you have a ton of golf courses, lakes, parks and not to mention that we have mountains and beaches two and a half hours in either direction. Look up the town of Mebane.
Thanks for the Video!! I already live in NC so you just helped me narrow down my area Search. I didn't realize Raleigh/Durham has RTP so of course it would be on the list 💪🏾

Raleigh/ Durham has all the jobs and corporate companies, if your gonna move do it now because I’m hearing downtown is securing contracts to build a massive stadium which will come with more traffic and nightlife

Impressive! Very detailed and informative video. New subscriber here 👋🏾 and I’m enjoying all your content so far-I would love to see this video done but, with the state of South Carolina! I’m aware that South Carolina is slow to the race and still has a very deep and dark history with slavery, backwoods teaching and racism so, I would understand if there’s not a lot of positive things to report. Being that- there is STILL so many communities here that are oppressed, uneducated and without work. So, I’m curious to know if there are other affluent/thriving places I may have missed. Thanks!

As a native New Yorker / Wall streeter, I absolutely "LOVE" Charlotte & the people. Great City with some very nice up and coming suburbs.
Coming from a native wall streeter that means the world to a native Charlottean my brother.
You know it's an automatic like when these sisters upload a video. Always detailed, thoroughly researched. Chocked full of information and inspiration. Keep producing content ladies.
Yas! Emphasis on thoroughly; its so wonderful.
Exactly! From one Carolina girl to another....bought my home in 2016....selling for 40K more in 2020. I’m moving out to the sticks!😁
Reggie Phillips that’s the cheat code work in Durham live in Bahama or Mebane, Work in Raleigh live in Zebulon
I love my state... just don't move to the small towns.. racism is real everywhere but its super real in the small towns
That I am very aware of smh
To be more specific if you are black stay away from western North Carolina. That's trumps country lack of jobs, meth addicts and good Ole boy system
Exactly
It’s not bad
I'm moving to Cary from the DMV even though I don't know anyone there. I'm excited about making a fresh start.

John Doe Houston is great! Many opportunities to make money! Cost of living is great...
@@hendrick32 what do most people do down there for work?
John Doe Houston is a large melting pot of culture and diversity. Honestly you can do whatever it is you like here and be somewhat successful. I’m an accountant so I see business across many sectors make good money. Houston is no longer just oil and gas or medical... this city has it all... besides acting/production....

Would you mind sharing how clayton is now ? I am looking to see if it is still suitable for families.
@@ladyt6156 My neighborhood (Cassedale) is great for families. I live in a cul de sac all the kids get together and play.
North Carolina is definitely in my top states I would move to

Great video of my state. I like Raleigh and Greensboro, but Charlotte is the bomb.
Great video. I moved from Jersey to Charlotte over 10 years ago. I have seen the city grow so much in a short period of time. Best decision I made in my life.

This is a great video! I've been in NC all my life and my whole family is all over the state. It's a beautiful place to be.
Dropping gems here.

Thanks!
