Honestly, to me, "There's a Reason For It" is one of the weakest songs from A-ha, and having this alternate chorus really improved it. Even though it's really weird to hear the chorus of what would become another song, many years later. It feels like an edit, but it's not, since, clearly, Morten's voice sounds younger here and there isn't a point where the production abruptly cuts, one into another. Seriously, discovering that "A Break In The Clouds" comes from There's a Reason For It feels like discovering that "This Alone Is Love" comes from "Scoundrel Days", and that the final lines from "Shadow Endeavors" also comes from Scoundrel Days. It feels like they never discard past ideas, it's so awesome.
When that first chorus kicked in...I was blown away! Just mesmerizing how both became their own songs down the line!
Wow this is fascinating to hear I had no idea these songs were twins!! It worked out well separating them.
Thank you!!
