You press L1 and the direction pad to get your partner to do things like attack the illegal opponet or grab a weapon. Pressing right calls for the attack. They did add a debuff that prevents illegal competitors from entering the ring more than once until they get tagged. Also if you target the ref and press up on the d pad you can argue with the ref.
