    Now, let's break down the essential fourth shots that can help you dominate your opponents:
    The Roll Volley: When faced with a slightly high third shot drop from your opponent, the roll volley emerges as your primary weapon. By applying topspin and precision, you can keep your opponents at bay while exerting control over the tempo of the game. Practice variations of the roll volley to keep your opponents guessing and on the defensive.
    The Step Back: Against lofty third shots that threaten to catch you off guard, employing the step back technique can turn the tables in your favor. By allowing the ball to bounce and adjusting your positioning, you create an opportunity to strike with authority. Mastering the step back ensures that you maintain offensive momentum even in challenging situations.
    The Drive Counterattack: For opponents who favor driving their third shots, the drive counterattack becomes your go-to response. With speed and precision, redirect the ball towards your opponent, exploiting their aggressive play. By keeping your swings compact and focused, you can effectively counterattack and seize control of the rally.
    The Reset: Acknowledging when your opponent executes a successful third shot is crucial in maintaining momentum and control. The reset shot, characterized by soft, controlled returns, allows you to regroup and transition into a dinking rally. While offensive play is paramount, knowing when to reset can prevent errors and keep you in the game.
    Mastering the fourth shot will enhance pickleball performance for even novice players, as this shot remains essential for asserting dominance over opponents. Whether it's unleashing a powerful roll volley, executing a well-timed step back, launching a precise drive counterattack, or gracefully resetting the tempo, each shot plays a vital role in your pickleball playbook. By honing these techniques through integrating them into your gameplay, you can begin playing better pickleball and leave your opponents in awe of your skillful strategy.
    So, the next time you step onto the court, remember the power of the fourth shot and use it to your advantage. With practice, determination, and a strategic mindset, you can become a force to be reckoned with as you begin playing better pickleball.

    Wood paddle + barefoot? Zane, you are a harsh master.
    Punishment for countering your attacks from your expanded kitchen by expanding his own kitchen and stepping back?

    Taking that roll volley across court is fun. I’m tall and have long arms.

      Me, too, but I often prefer to reach deep into the kitchen to flex my wrist from above the net cord.

    • @afterthesmash
      @afterthesmash 3 месяца назад

      Note that this option requires "burning your quads" to hunker down almost to eye-level with the net cord.
      With your shoulders up in the clouds, a long arm doesn't actually reach very far into the kitchen for balls at or below net height.

      @@afterthesmash I make the comment to my wife. I’m not better than a lot of the people I’ve won against I just work harder. I’m squatting at the kitchen line in that ready/athletic position a ton.

    Thank you for this very helpful video! What would you say is the difference between a drive that you can counterattack vs. a "good" drive that you have to reset? Is it the speed, the height, or both?

    • @zzzzz2899
      @zzzzz2899 3 месяца назад

      primarily height, the lower the drive is the harder it is to counterattack it. bc you cannot hit down on the ball when its coming low over the net

    • @yhai9317
      @yhai9317 3 месяца назад

      @@zzzzz2899 Thank you! That makes sense. I hope I can get to a level one day where I can actually implement either option.
