      Why baking soda and not baking powder?

    • @ROMASKITCHEN96
      @ROMASKITCHEN96  4 года назад

      Because baking soda is stronger so a little goes a far way. You can use baking powder if you don't want to use the baking soda. Just remember that 1tsp of baking soda is around 2-3tsp baking powder

      I keep telling people it'll not come out red without the colouring but apparently they think otherwise. If you depend on adding more puree, that'll spoil your batter because sorrel is tangy and if you depend on adding other things that are red, you have to be mindful of the flavour that it'll add. Unlike the colouring which neither adds nor take away from the flavour so that's the best option I see.

    • @ROMASKITCHEN96
      @ROMASKITCHEN96  4 года назад +2

      I used baking soda because a little goes a far way. Either of the 2 can be used but 1tsp of baking soda is around 2-3 tsp of baking powder

      Just had to run the video again because someone else mentioned it. I said baking soda🙃. You can use either baking soda or powder but remember 1tsp baking soda= 3 tsp baking powder.

      1.Combine a tablespoon of ground flaxseed with 3 tablespoons of warm water, stir to combine, and let stand for 5 minutes to thicken. Remove the seeds and use the mixture.
      OR
      2.Use ¼ cup of unsweetened apple sauce to replace one egg

    • @ROMASKITCHEN96
      @ROMASKITCHEN96  4 года назад +1

      I saved the other 2 cups and added it to my other dishes. I stewed it in 3 cups because that was enough to get the 14.5 oz of sorrel fully soft.
