Strange that they would demolish the 100 yr old soundstage when they could have renovated it and used it as a universal museum of sorts.

  • @GabyGibson

They should have kept the soundstage. So much history happened there

Obviously, the most popular adaptation of the Gaston Leroux novel is the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. Those songs have a way of getting stuck in your head for quite some time. And there was one song that could almost literally hypnotize the listener: “The Music of the Night.”

The Phantom has kinda resurfaced in the latest Universal Monsters Maze for Halloween Horror Nights this year.

I'm hoping when "Dark Universe" gets going, we'll get a good representation in the parks...I'm dying (no pun intended) for some good walkarounds. Although the Phantom's Daughter sounds a lot like Operetta from "Monster High"...
BTW, "The Muppets" filmed in Stage 28 of the Universal lot and in the DVD extras Uncle Deadly is talking about the Phantom...

I know but The Phantom in Phantom Manor is directly inspired by Phantom Of The Opera.

The music in the ride is also reminiscent of the phantom of the opera musical at times as well

They should have kept the stage as a tourist attraction, phantom fans would have traveled to see it in person.

0:38 this line is beautiful and fits Erik very well, however, Gaston Leroux didn't write it. This line only exists in the 1925s movie.

Oh wow! Imagine seeing this movie back in 1925. The audience reaction must have been extreme. Lots of screaming and fainting

There was also another musical adaptation of Phantom of the Opera preceding Andrew Lloyd Webber’s version, this one written by Ken Hill. It served as inspiration for Webber’s version

    • @darthkurland
      @darthkurland 5 лет назад +1

Abby Jones indirectly. It inspired Andrew Lloyd Webber to outdo any of his previous works. The human inspiration was Sarah Brightman who originated the role of Christine in both the Broadway and London productions of “Phantom.”

I just wish that they had started working on the film adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical sooner. I can understand that Sir Andrew wanted Joel Schumacher to direct the film adaptation from the start, but here’s who I think should have been involved with the film adaptation:
    Michael Crawford: The Phantom
    Meredith Braun: Christine Daae
    Howard McGillin: Raoul
    Also Starring
    Stephen Fry: Andre
    Hugh Laurie: Firmin
    Rebecca Caine: Carlotta
    George Lee Andrews: Piangi
    Barbara Lang: Madame Giry
    Elisabeth Stringer: Meg Giry
Based on the Novel by Gaston Leroux
    Songs:
    Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber
Lyrics by Charles Hart & Richard Stilgoe
    Music Direction: Michael Reed
Orchestrations: David Cullen & Andrew Lloyd Webber
    Costume Design: Maria Bjornson
    Production Design: Bo Welch
    Phantom Makeup Design: Christopher Tucker
    Cinematographer: Roger Pratt, BSC
    Editing: Ray Lovejoy
    Orchestra Conductor: David Caddick
Performed by the London Symphony Orchestra
    VFX Supervisor: Nathan McGuinness
    Supervisor, Model Dept.: Derek Meddings
VFX: Cinesite, Meddings Camera Company, Framestore
Screenplay: Andrew Lloyd Webber, Richard Stilgoe & Joel Schumacher
    Exec. Producer: Cameron Mackintosh
    Produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber
    Directed by Joel Schumacher
Filmed in Super Panavision 70 (TM)
    Color by Technicolor
Presented in Dolby Digital, DTS & SDDS in select theaters
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Available from Warner Bros/Really Useful Records/Polydor
Production: CamMack Films, Really Useful Films, Odyssey Entertainment
    Released by Warner Bros. Pictures
    “Let The Dream Begin”
    December 1992.

I see in the Beetlejuice show, the Phantom's design is a more based off with the boardway play's version of the Phantom, rather than the 1920s-1930s horror movie version, with half of his face deformed

So the monster show in Japan is the same as the original Beetlejuice version. I did that show in 2008 as Wolfie. I then did the more updated version in its last year, which was in Singapore (closing in 2014). You can still find the Beetlejuice version in Japan, unchanged since opening in 2001.

Yoooo Kings island represent!! I’m so glad you brought up Phantom Theater. Hardly anyone seems to ever talk about it anymore. Unfortunately, by the time that I moved to Ohio, they had already turned phantom theater into the Scooby Doo ghost shooting ride.

I actually wanted to give her a bit of a backstory myself. Instead of being the daughter of the Phantom himself, he only serves as the inspiration for her stage persona.
