love the vids! I practiced Shorin Ryu about 6 years ago then stopped because i had to move. I got back into it in February this year and my old school recommended a school up here that practices shotokan. And your tutorials are half the reason I was able to test and get my next belt in a month. And on top of that I can stay one kata ahead of my belt. I need Heian nidan for my next belt. But i already know it by heart because of your vids! My sensi tried having us do Heian sandan today with the green belts but.... didnt go well so i told him give me a week and ill learn it! SOO time to watch your video on repeat!
Thanks for uploading this, I got my Orange belt with the aid of your Heian Nidan video, and now I've achieved my Yellow belt with this Heian Sandan tutorial. Great stuff I'm very thankful to you.

Thank you for mentioning the different variations! I recently changed to a different dojo after moving and when we did Heian Sandan, some of the higher belts admonished me for doing a crescent kick, like I learned it in my first dojo, instead of only using the knee. It made me think that maybe I learned or was remembering it wrong? So it means a lot to hear that it's just a different variation, even more so because I really enjoy the crescent kick and it fits well with my bunkai. :)

Would you happen to know who introduced the crescent kick into the kata? Outside of the Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do the first Shotokan instructor that I ever saw performing a crescent kick in the kata was Aidan Trimble from England.

Awsome... it's really hard to make a tutorial on kata, but Everytime you make it perfect. I heard this was supposed to be Maroon to Brown Kata, but we have it in our Brown I. I have a request, please make a tutorial on jump spin kicks, 340, 320, 360, 540, 720 etc... Sorry but I don't know the Japanese names. anyways, thanks so much for this video, for some reason our master doesn't teach Kata like this n we're just supposed to catch up somehow. so this is a great help❤️ Thank you Sensei.

Lover your explanation, but if show the full Kata in moting From beginning to end so we know what it looks like. Or should look like. Without any pauses or interactions think you. You would make a great sensei.
Getting there slowly. We do a lot with Kumite drills and training ideas. Only put out Kata videos every once in a while. Heian Godan is next, then Bassai Dai. Thanks for watching and commenting. Feel free to drop any other video topic suggestions.
