“Every mental function has a social component” I don’t think some mental functions really have a social component. Hunger is partly controlled by a part of your brain called the hypothalamus, your blood sugar (glucose) level, how empty your stomach and intestines are, and certain hormone levels in your stomach. When satiated or empty your stomach sends signals to your brain that it is full or hungry. Your brain then produces the desire to stop eating or continue eating. This process creates a desire which is a “mental function” but has no social component in this instant. So, I don’t think it’s right that every mental function has a social basis. Just my two cents. If I missed something please explain. Mental functions of the brain include both global mental functions (such as consciousness, orientation function, motivation, and impulse control) and specific mental functions (such as attention, memory, emotion, and perception). Many instances of these especially in isolation don’t seem to always have social components.
You have a misspelled word in the "Tenets" slide that you may want to change. I love your videos however, I can not utilize this on until it it corrected. Thank you.
