When I was a child I lived in Midland Park, and taking the bus to downtown Ridgewood (10 cents for the ride) was the Saturday afternoon thing to do!
Seeing a double feature at the Warner Movie Theater for 35 cents, and then going next door to buy some candy kept me out of trouble.
The pedestrian underpass at the rail road tracks, across the street for the pharmacy, was an adventure for prepubescent little boys!
When I was older we used to play the "Ridgewood Game".
That was driving around the park looking for girls to talk to.
(I wonder if the kids still do that.)
The cops, on Harley Davidson Trikes, were aware of the game, and passed out tickets for the slightest infractions.
I received a ticket once because my car was parked, and the tire was just barely touching the white parking space line.
Ridgewood did have some drawbacks!
I met my first wife in that park!
