Great question. I have spoken to G. Loomis about this and here is the scoop; Because these rods are handmade there is some slight variance - therefore, G. Loomis will not mass label weights on them. I was instructed to test out the weight using a shipping scale, which I have done. I clocked in the 10' 2wt at ~3.2 ounces and the 10'6" 3wt just shy of ~4 ounces. I'd like to add a disclaimer that these are just rough approximations and were measured on a scale that isn't capable of extremely finite readings. I would place the rods anywhere between 3-4 ounces, comparable to an Orvis Helios 3 10'6" 3wt Euro rod. That all being said, more important than the weight is the swing weight / moment of inertia. Paired with a proper reel, that aspect will be 3x more important than the physical weight of the rod while fishing. Cheers!
Hi . Great review. 👍 Could you tell me please. 10ft 2# it will be ok for two small nymph or is best use one nymph , for two nymph is better 3wt model. Let me know please. Thank you
The 2wt handles two files without issue. I often fish three with a heavy lead and two small (18 and smaller) droppers. We have found the 2wt to be more responsive. The deciding factor may be water and fish size. This is also what leads to the decision of how many flies to fish. Smaller, skinnier water can be better managed with less flies while larger deep water can be covered more quickly with more bugs on. Hope this helps!
Great question, Mike! For these rods we found that reels in the 4/5/6 class balance them well. Of course, this depends on the make and model of the reel as there is a lot of variance in weight from brand to brand and even styles within a brand. Personally, I was using an old Orvis Hydros SL III, which is a 5-7 weight reel, because I like a lot of counterbalance with my setup. That worked well for me on these rods!
Great breakdown of the technology of the IMX.
Thanks, Paul!
Best review on a euro rod out there. Very detailed.
Thanks very much!
Fantastic video. I’ve been waiting for this 👍👍
Thanks, Paul! We enjoyed making it and are happy to hear you enjoyed watching it!
Nice work guys
Thank you 🙌
Do you have rod weights for the 2 models?
I just bought this Rod 10' 2wt, plan to get Redington Lift reel and Rio Euro line.
Excellent! Have Fun!
I'd love to see a side by side comparison to the diamondback euro rod w this
Why isn’t there a weight listed anywhere?

How’s their warranty?
Great question, I will link to their warranty page here: www.gloomis.com/pages/warranty?glm=1
They have probably the best warranty in the business. Expeditor program you will have a new rod in a few days.

the answer is always 2 flys

V goooooooood rod and video
We like it too! Thanks for watching!
Love their IMX Pro Short Spey! How heavy of a reel would you put on the 10'6" 3wt Euro?

I bought the 10' 2wt. Do you like Euro nymph lines plus a leader or use a longer mono leader as your setup?
