This violence from protesters started because the police beat up innocent civilians. the first 2 days of protests were calm, I was there in the front near the police, but the police started arresting and beating people and that's when they arrested about 200 people. in total they arrested about 400 people and the government official public defender stated that more than 300 of them were beat up and unproperly treated by the police. one guy was beat up so bad he was in a coma for 3 days and one had a fractured back almost became paralyzed. they put arrested civilians in a van and spray pepper spray inside just to torture them and threating them with "non-consentual sexual contact", only way I can say this without my comment getting removed. Most of this was caught on camera and you can look it up.

Well unfortunately Georgia is a small country which is in a region full of wars and as a neighbouring country up north we have Russia who has occupied our territories and killed multiple innocent people. Our country was occupied by Russia for 3 centuries, they promised to help us with our wars against persia and ottamans but what happened? We were abandoned and we fought alone! Russia took advantage and we were enslaved, brainwashed for centuries and those who spoke against Russian propaganda were killed. During the Soviet era they also tried to destroy our language and tried to replace our language with the Russian language. Our illegitimate government is doing Russia's work and that's why people are coming out in the streets to protest. As i said we are a small country and i also know that EU and USA have their own interests but the choice between Russia and pro western countries and people are choosing the west because our history with Russia brought only pain and suffering. We cant be an independent and neutral country like switzerland because we have an aggressive neighbour, Russia who wants to dominate and control the Cacasus region. I also understand that we don't know what is going to happen in the future if we develop our ties with USA and EU but at least it will be a new political direction. Just check out and read about Georgian history and what Russia did and is doing right now with us. After that you will understand why Georgian people want new strategic partners!

Our country was occupied by Russia for 3 centuries, they promised to help us with our wars against persia and ottamans but what happened? We were abandoned and we fought alone! Russia took advantage and we were enslaved, brainwashed for centuries and those who spoke against Russian propaganda were killed. During the Soviet era they also tried to destroy our language and tried to replace our language with the Russian language. Our illegitimate government is doing Russia's work and that's why people are coming out in the streets to protest. As i said we are a small country and i also know that EU and USA have their own interests but the choice between Russia and pro western countries and people are choosing the west because our history with Russia brought only pain and suffering. We cant be an independent and neutral country like switzerland because we have an aggressive neighbour, Russia who wants to dominate and control the Cacasus region. I also understand that we don't know what is going to happen in the future if we develop our ties with USA and EU but at least it will be a new political direction. Just check out and read about Georgian history and what Russia did and is doing right now with us. After that you will understand why Georgian people want new strategic partners!
