I did it in low gear, slow and easy..taxis don't prefer 4wd due to mileage and tyre wear..they change rear tyres once in 6 months..also there is extra fun when 2 wheel Jeep slides and drifts
I think using 4wd jeeps will be far better in safety. YES these drivers are very talented and experts.And also its FUN to push any vehicle to its Limits. But how can the tourists department and authorities could allow the vehicle to be a 4wd as they can easily use 4wd There is somany trekking/offroad spots in kerala but here its strictly restricted to 4wds only bcz its a safety concern

You can find local workshops in the town of Kollur, Mookambika. But in Kundapur, which is almost 38 kms from Kollur, you can find Mahindra Service centre and spare parts. Kudajadri mountain is deep inside forest area, in the middle of nowhere!
@@dipakrn5230 thanks a ton bro! You're a gem. To be honest, I don't trust my thar and it keeps breaking down. Regret buying it. That's the reason, I asked for a service center in advance 😂😂. Should've waited for Suzuki Jimny. Or Should've ve tried Force Gurkha but can't have a trust unless it's Japanese. But a Toyota 4x4 is off my budget.
@@1andtheOnly I went there in my Maruti Omni back in 2003. Roads were much better then (unpaved dirt road with ditches, deep gorges and slippery edges!) But I won't take my trusted Omni there now. (My vehicle is in mint condition, but the hilly road is at its worst!) By the way, both Omni & Gypsy were derived from Suzuki Jimny! Always carry two sets of spare tyres (with rims) and a jerry can full of fuel. U won't see a lot of fuel stations between Kundapura-Kollur-Kudajadri!!!⛽
@@dipakrn5230 Good to know that your Omni is in mint condition. It's just like it's name...Omni..present everywhere and can almost go about anywhere. We had an Omni too...but gave it away...should not have done that. Wow! , Omni has a Jimny pedigree...I never knew that...that's why it's tough as nails. Will surely note your advice and take necessary precautions before embarking that route! I can see that you're a travel and an off road enthusiast, experienced too. All the best in your travels in future.
Is it just an adventure offroading track or some actual road passengers have to take to reach their homes/offices daily? (Like there are many such deadly roads in Himachal which can not be built due to one reason or the other for eg. frequent landslides, perennial waterfall etc.)
It is not rally track. It is daily usage road for nearby villagers. The roads are almost same in this region because of frequent rain and landslide. This area comes in western ghat region of Karnataka called as "Malenadu"
