mike oreilly is my uncle and as his only niece i must say im very proud of him especially after going through what my family did after my grandfather had fell. very proud of my family and the mark they left.
He isn't your uncle lol I've seen other stories about Mike and his family and you were not mentioned one single time. No need to try and get fame from a YT comment 😂
@@cunicularium5424 why would they mention her? Wtf?
@@cunicularium5424 doesn't realize how deep family lines go, his little potty brain cannot comprehend such a subject. It hurts him to even imagine, in fact, he had to be rushed to the ICU after writing his comment by straining his brain too hard.
I work for him moving the steel he’s one in a billion such a great guy
So that means Joe is your dad and your dad is an iron worker boss too not proud of him lolol
I’ve spent my whole life in construction as a pipefitter and I have nothing but respect and admiration for these guys. This video was shot during good weather. Imagine what it’s like with a 25 mile an hour wind and temperatures below freezing. My hat is off to them.
My fathers been an ironworker for 35 years, and although i didnt follow in his footsteps I have nothing but respect for my old man. To me he is the bravest person on planet earth. Repsect to ironworkers
No fear 🙂👍 respect
I agree with you Cole. Your father was a Great Man.
Your a good son to see that.
I'm a NYC window cleaner 30 years. Mike, Tommy it wasn't all for nothing. Your dad's are part of the history of the greatest city in the world. I watch you guys at work and you are a special breed, God bless be safe.
greatest city in the world 😂
Retired Union Electrician here Local #3 NYC! Worked many jobs in WTC over the years! Nothing but respect and admiration for these guys! A few family members are Union Iron Workers in NYC, great guys and salt of the earth people. Proud to have these guys in the family! FJB!
This has got to be the most badass job in the states. Much respect for these professionals
I do it every day local 387

I was married to a Union Ironworker out of New Jersey...THESE GUYS ARE HEROES. I love and respect all of them. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
So what's the story behind the divorce? 🤨 Unless he passed away.
As a scaffolder I tie off to the steel structure. As ironworkers they install the steel structure, takes a lot of balls to be an iron worker. Keep up the good work boys.
How did you get into scaffolding business if you don't mind me asking
@@dagnrl215 you can get in through your local Carpernters union. IronWorkers don’t take on scaffolding anymore well at least not in Northern California
@@richa3599 Ironworkers always have and always will build their own scaffolding. Rich Daniels Local 25 Detroit (retired)
@@richa3599In the Mid Atlantic states, the scaffold guys work through the carpenter's local as well.
what an amazing story.. thank you to all those hardworking iron workers.
Much respect for what you boys do. I'm in the sprinkler fitters Union 542 in Pittsburgh. I got a few buddies that are iron workers here for local 3. Much respect to my fellow union brothers.
I have a high respect for these guys.

This is what I do every day.. union ironworker local 387
@@derekrohan9619 how many times are you going to say that? Jesus
Props to these guys who will do this scary job! Most folks can’t do it, I know I can’t...
I’ve worked on jobs all over NYC since I Immigrated here from Ireland, seen everything possible , but when you have 60 plus trade specialists working a Job together, you admire and appreciate each man’s craft and Grit , But me personally hold NYC Iron workers in Special Floor to themselves, Look up and live" one of the best workplace saftey slogans ive ever heard, I appreciate and I respect the Titans of our City , our Ironworks especially the old school legends from Newfoundland and the rest of Canada , we owe every single admiration too the Little Caughnawaga people, the Mohawk people are role models to me personally, God Bless The Men of Steel!!!
During my career as a Local 3 NYC Electrician, I had the pleasure of working with many Local 40 NYC Iron Workers. I mostly did the High Rise Machine Rooms, by choice. That allowed me to know the Iron Workers, up close. Local 638 Steam Fitters, Local 28 Tin Knockers. Local 46 Lathers. Local 14 Operating Engineers who manned the tower cranes. Great guys to work with. I was fortunate. I retired without an accident that I missed any days of work for. It was hot in the summer and bitter cold in the winter and extremely dangerous. The toughest thing was when someone went in the hole. Thank God, it didn’t happen on too many jobs I worked on. Every trade was the best trained, safest and best guys to work around. I retired 17 years ago and still miss it.
Retired Local 405 Philadelphia. Thanks for all those before me, those with me and those ahead of me for giving me the living I made and the retirement I am now enjoying.
You can tell before coffee break if an apprentice IW is gonna cut it or not. Everyone's watching. Much respect to all Union IWs. Retired from L 625 since 2005
This country wouldn’t exist if not for balls like this. God bless anyone who can do this job. 🇺🇸
I always wanted to be an ironworker when I grew up ... at some point in my life. I am proud to say I achieved that goal and can count myself among the best class of workers in the world. If the money was better than what I make now, I'd still be an ironworker.
What ya do now
What do you do know?
my palms were sweaty watching this. These men are built different. The balls it takes to stand hundrends of feet in the air wit so many moving parts.
Years ago I got a chance to ride a hoist up 10 floors to deliver construction plans. Ofcourse I was on a safe floor ,but I seen the workers on the floors and I could not believe how they could do what they did,day in and day out. The courage, dedication and great spirit they have everyday
Local 207 apprentice love the work, and the opportunity to work with some very experienced ironworkers
Thank you to all the men and women that risk their lives every day doing what they love and building our country I always wanted to be a structural welder I got really sick last January Im hoping that I can at least do it. On the ground in a Warehouse building the beams or anything like that I had a construction background I did construction of 10 years framing Roofing all kinds of stuff I love the heights but ever since I got sick I'm very dizzy light-headed so I don't think I'll ever be able to do that but you never know thank you again for all you men women out there that keep on building our world
I could NEVER do this......these guys are incredible.
To all the people working on the World Trade Center: Great job! Because of you, New York City is getting better than it ever was!
Does this Old Man good to see Young Men like this.Much Respect to you boys!!Be Safe...
I'm a layout/fitter for structural .been a welder before and also have been in the sheet metal union. Being up there as an iron worker is a dream..
I'm an Ironworker 433 Las Vegas and I had my high school prom in WTC "98". Mike O'Reilly, your pop built one of the most famous buildings the world has ever seen. Just because 9/11 happened, doesn't hide the fact that it was built, it was there and he along with our brothers made that happen.
You gotta respect the heights. Much respect to you all. THANK YOU. 🙏
These people are the real celebrities of this nation.
Great to see the Irish ☘️ names👍
Stay safe guys
Great video. Wish there was more like it.

Americans appreciate your sacrifices. Thank you for all that u do IRON WORKERS! 🇺🇸
Great footage of a few connectors building a part of history. It's not everyday that one can say they've helped build such a project. And for those pecking at the ironworkers for wearing safety harnesses, you've obviously never worked on a "BIG" job before - it's required! Stick to the "little" jobs if you don't like wearing them.
Big shout-out to NYC from Ironworkers local #25 Detroit!! The bad boys of the building trades!
Love this work. I'm an ironworker myself. Love this show
I am as well, not everyone can do what we do brother

I’ve fallen 2 floors onto concrete. It’s sore let me tell you. But thanks to Paddy, he bent back the high tensile steel concrete starting bars I fell onto that morning. As he said to me, “I thought they were a bit dangerous at that position”
I respect these guys as much as business CEOs if not more than them..
These are extraordinary men.
Mike when telling the story of his dad he almost cried. Men of men
Guys are at a whole other level
Risk taking

Team work
Trusting one another
High morale/enthusiastic for the build
Truly america isnt america witho iron workers just as teachers, police, inventors, the wealthy, the preachers, farmers, cooks, drivers, military, etc etc etc. These guys are the real deal
it was a long time ago so im not sure what they pay now but its a great job you will never be more proud of a job then as a ironworker .the local in ottawa should have a apprentice coordinater they should be able to help you .good luck .

I don't do good with heights. I'm not afraid to admit it and it's crazy how these guys conquer such heights.
Jeff p Just out of curiosity what is your profession?
+Jeff p Its not that bad once you go past that fear.
it is unnerving but the work is never further away then the end of your arm...I lost my nerve after 22 years due to injuries
my father works on tower 1 i proud of him
God bless these real American men. 🇺🇸
Native Americans (Indians) have no fear of heights. They built the CN tower. Kudos.

Hey Peter J !!!!! Representing akwesasne. Ace
The ironworkers look into the windows of the traders and decision makers who would never do their jobs.
Working construction in cold weather is difficult. I know, I've done it before.
GO UNION!!!! Local 40 rules the skyline!
Local 416 LA, I tip my hat to you.
Serious question 0.44, can someone explain how that beam doesnt just slide out of that
Probably a combination of balance, weight & friction?
@@freedo333 thanks
2:25 he was his fathers age???
Why some or many of those "iron workers" put their safety helmet on their head in "reverse mode", ..? Subtitles were helpful to follow those conversations with workers, why they have been deactivated?
Constantly looking up, lots of moving parts coming from above and the brim of the hard hat impedes vision. Simply walking around a construction site with low hanging head knockers can be a headache with your vision blocked from the top of your forehead.
@@noisypipes05 Yep, plus if you do need to weld you don't have to turn your hardhat around you're ready to go.
