Hate to point this out but the Amazon fig you were using looks like it had one of the knee guards sticking straight up. Without that joint sticking straight up, he would have easily slide under both the desk and the table.

You're right, they are not 1:12 scale, absolutely not about your figure's knee pad. And it is disappointing, these $10 plastic kits doesn't outperform Bandai's, I mean at least they should be able to microwave my meals, how dare they! LMAO
