- I’ve been scared of ORAMM (The Offroad Assault on Mt. Mitchell) since I started mountain biking. It’s a bike race up the highest peak in the Appalachian Mountains. A 60 mile ride is a big MTB challenge, but add 9,000 feet of elevation, and you have a big, dumb MTB ride. To make matters worse, I didn’t train for it.

Ha! You noticed. It’s definitely overkill for the ups, but it climbs well and I figure it’s making me stronger for when I get ahold of something better suited for this kind of elevation. Thanks for tuning in 😁

@@PedalVision I did it twice in the past and swore I would never do it again. But I decided one more time since they changed the course and it was my first event in the 60+ category. I finished and I won't do it again. But proud of my effort.
Dang, it isn’t looking too good for me. I swore I’d never do it again, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t thinking about hitting it faster. Congrats on a strong finish in the 60+ cat, and good luck on not doing it a fourth time.

@@PedalVision I used to live in Morganton, rode those trails in the 2000’s. Nothing better than an evening ride up Curtis Creek Rd, getting above the clouds and serenaded by coyotes! Never put them all together though. 👍🏽.
@JohnRider I could see that being a nice ride when it’s all quiet and lit up with a headlight. I’m with you on the coyotes though, let them be.

Thank you! The rest stops are one of my favorite things about bike races. I don’t get those vibes when I’m rolling solo, so I like to soak it up.
love it, great video. That false summit on Kitsuma is the worst but be glad they changed the course this year and you didn't have to do Kitsuma a second time at the end.

It is a lot of climbing, but the biggest ones were more about settling in and staying cool. Kitsuma was a MF though, Heartbreak too 🥴
