I wish I’d seen this earlier. Tonight I made sourdough brownies and before baking I swirled in a whipped mixture - 1/3 cup sugar, 1 egg, & a block of softened cream cheese. Really fun .
I made these this morning and WOW! Absolutely the best brownies I've ever made. So satisfying and fudgy!! My sweetheart enjoyed them, and we shared some with our neighbors. Thank you so much for sharing this new twist on an old favorite.
According to some studies, sourdough bread acts as a prebiotic, which means that the fiber in the bread helps feed the “good” bacteria in your intestines. These bacteria are important for maintaining a stable, healthy digestive system. Sourdough is also lower in gluten than other forms of bread. Quick Google search showed this from WebMD. Hope it helps!
Anyone know if it is okay for the brownies to fall after you pull them out of the oven, in the cooling process. Mine raised about 2 inches high and then when they cooled, they shrunk down and even pulled from the sides. They were still good but was wondering if I did something wrong.
Before you feed your sourdough starter you have to discard some. This recipe allows you to use that discard instead of throwing it into a food scraps container.

YUM!
What happened if the discard is been sitting on the counter for a week and runny? Can I still make this recipe?
Can it be gluten free?
Is there such a thing as a grain free sour dough starter
I’ve heard of folks using a ginger bug for starting bread. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but I’m sure it would work well.
Why does it say discard recipe? That’s confusing to me.

@@jensidenman2774 thank you for the explanation 🙏
@@jensidenman2774 I never discard ANY starter, I make something with it. Wasteful in my opinion.
How much starter?
