While watching these, you tend to find a lot of plot holes when it comes to him using his power, I understand that it could be inconvenient for the story (and he obviously doesn't want to die at all really), but he has literally done it so many times that it's more in his advantage to take a nap for some kind of "quick-save" and essentially go through it enough times to remember it, I know he's explained that there have been things that he forgets eventually, but the things he remembers, if done right, could be used to completely change their plan and eventually make it as successful as possible, he actively did it in the military, and the fact is that it is exactly what the foundation wants, for him to use his power to the best potential, but the honest fact is that it would have worse and worse effects as he uses it, especially if he can only progress with one plan, eventually making it to where it's some of the only stuff he can remember, which is something that I think even the 05 council wouldn't be willing to do.
