    This channel deserves more attention. I am a physical therapy student, and I have to say that most fitness people on youtube are yawning piles of bs. I like that you do not talk in absolutes, actually admit when you are not sure of an idea, and are constantly looking for new ways to train. More tools, more methods, more results.

    Matt it's called age. I have always looked and studied history and never threw away what had potential. The wheel has been around for a long time but just improved upon. I feel that's what you do and why I consider you the best.

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  4 года назад

      I've heard of this age thing. Looking forward to it myself ;)

  • @DanielEarl
    @DanielEarl 4 года назад +17

    Wow, I've been doing these already! I prefer just doing the movement with an unyielding resistance. The pull-up one is clever, I'll definitely use that one.
    I just call them Grind Isometrics, because I'm basically doing a main compound movement, but with a nylon strap.

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  4 года назад +9

      Grind Isometrics has a nice ring to it, thanks for the suggestion and if you have any other ideas on how to apply these I would love to hear them

  • @tigerboy4516

    Pull up alternative;
    One gymnastic ring or looped small belt etc etc etc.
    1. Lift ring behind you head
    2. Grip with both hands
    3. Try to rip ring apart
    I recommend 1 minute all out, (single rep)

    How about “staTIC” (Tethered Isometric Conditioning)..?

  • @regprofant6984
    @regprofant6984 4 года назад +1

    I have been doing this for a long time, how long I can't give an accurate time. But I knew you would come around with it as you always do. Like I have said before you are my only authority that I totally rely on.. at my age this is the only way to train. Over the years I noticed I got very little out of yielding but a tremendous amount out of overcoming. Just call it RDP isometrics

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  4 года назад

      I'm not surprised you've already been using this Reg, you always seem to be quite a few steps ahead of the rest of us with stuff like this.

    Outstanding advice on making the isometrics harder. Yup, as you tire, your overcoming isometric turns into a yielding isometric. What do you get out of this? A far shorter duration (a 5 minute yield can be reduced to a minute), and far greater tension than a yielding isometric alone. Again, fantastic training advice.

  • @moxohol

    "isometronics" is the label the presentator was searching for. The concept as presented here was popularized by Bill Starr (trainer not athlete) during the 1960's.

    • @trevbarlow9719
      @trevbarlow9719 4 года назад

      I've read the same thing in a forum, where someone was citing Starr in order to support the claim that isometrics are effective in strength building.

    • @moxohol
      @moxohol 4 года назад

      @@trevbarlow9719 Dr. John Ziegler invented the protocol of isometronics that he initially experimented with on athletes of the famous York Barbell Club. Bill March was his 1st guinea pig & he became a weightlifting legend in his own right. The basic tenet of isometronics is a heavy load 85% of your max in a select arc position. The weight is moved 6 inches & stopped by the power rack pins then held for 10s for a total of 3 sets. Nothing has outshined its effectiveness for building limit strength save Carl Dietz's triphasic training.

    I have already been doing this. It's pretty awesome. In fact while doing plank if you come on the absolute tip of your toes the entire weight shifts to your palms, and if you squeeze after that you feel a superior contraction on the upper back. Big fan of your work by the way.

    That squeeze movement for the plank and the bridge has been around for at least a few decades. I can't remember where I picked it up, but it's certainly not new. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't used them consistently because they're so brutal, but that is about to change!
    Your hybrid exercises with the strap are not something I've seen and may be original. They are certainly an interesting twist and look well worth trying!
    I love the way that this channel is so open-minded and constantly searching for smarter ways to exercise. So many RUclipsrs are dogmatically peddling some macho bullshit as the Only True Way...

    Matt, I love your channel and following the journey you've been on. Thank you for leading this movement. This type of isometrics reminds me a lot of "static contractions" which Tony Robbins talks about some here: ruclips.net/video/4_OJdeWacFo/видео.html Not sure what the specific differences are though.
