  • Can you buy a decent riflescope for under a grand in 2022? Absolutely, says Dan Bibb of Shooting Sports UK - and he pulls out three examples to prove his point. Each one offers terrific optical performance and will almost certainly outlive your rifle if not you.
    The three are:
    Hawke Endurance 30 WA 6-24x50 £499
    Zeiss v4 3-12x56 £868
    Steiner Ranger 4 6-24x56 £880

I thought we were going to get all three scopes for £1000. The deer in UK must have cloaking like a Klingon Bird of Prey to require such expensive scopes. I only started using scopes when my near vision became too poor to see the sight.

The irony here is in North America hunting very blue collar, you can see with the kit in the UK it's very upper classe activity there

I think it's due to there being no public land to hunt on, It's all on land that is managed by a gamekeeper and then the hunting licenses are sold for a premium price.

@@TheMrkiddi true. And history. Being a land owner in NA didn't necessarily mean you had wealth. Just is / was so much more land even the plebs got it

Thanks for this. I think there's a perception that hunting in the UK is white-collar, because of Downton Abbey pheasant shoots and foxhound meets. The reality is that it's mainly blue collar. / Charlie
