I told a friend from Hong Kong, who was taking part in the peaceful protests that they should stop. They basically got what they got, but if they kept going with the riots and unreasonable demands then there will be a harsh crackdown. No Western nation would have let the riots go on like that, let alone an Asian one. The desire for stability and peace is much more of a priority for Asians compared to the simple concept of "personal freedoms".
