beast master veroa can train mounts for 1, not one less. It’s in the card (train beasts costs -1 strength), the card description in the manual, and in an example in the manual. In the tile and in part of the manual it says you can train multiple times in a turn (though I think one place in the manual said that incorrectly) so your first turn you could have upgraded twice fir your spend, or upgraded three times. That’s a lot of VP.
Both of those were already noted... Like Rahdo says at the start of the 1st video, please turn on the Klingon subtitles to see where Richard goofs up… Thanks :)
Paulo Renato I actually didn’t see these two in the Klingons subtitles when I watched it, he noted one of the errors later in the full play video though. The other he claimed was not printed that way in his ore-release version of the docs in the comments of the full play.
@@tychay did you have the subtitles turned on? I asked because they were both noted a long time ago, if not from when I first saw the video within one or two days when others pointed them out. Like I said in my first reply, they were both noted already
Hey Rahdo! Thank you for your awsome channel! I am an 80% two-player gamer (with my wife) so your videos have been an invaluable help to us! I'm on the fence about backing this one at the campaign running right now in Kickstarter, so, my question is : do you know if any of these problems you are referring to in your video are solved in tis second edition. Greetings from Syros, Greece!!!
At 9:26, there is a mistake. Your companion ability actually reduces the Strength cost to 1, not by 1. This is mostly an issue with how the game presents the costs. The normal cost is -3. Your companion changes the cost from -3 to -1. It is only misleading because the -1 can be interpreted as reducing the cost by 1, but the rule book also specifically says you only pay 1 Strength instead of 3 for her ability as well. At 13:06, there is another mistake. According to the rule book, "You may not gain control of one region and visit another region on the same turn (unless otherwise specified by an effect or ability)." That is, if you visit a region, you can only take control of that same region. You can however take control first then visit it, or vice versa. At 15:33, there is a third mistake. If you use a proficiency to gain back attributes (2 strength attributes in this case, since it is a Strength proficiency), the proficiency is removed from the game and not returned to the board.
The first two were already noted on the Klingon subtitles... the third one, can you point me to the section of the rulebook where it says that so that I can confirm it and then make the note? Thanks
@@PauloRenato23 This is taken from the latest rulebook, available as a link from the Kickstarter that just ended a few days ago ( www.kickstarter.com/projects/orangenebula/vindication-boardgame ). The link is www.dropbox.com/sh/7yfi8zk2nr4caq9/AAARwiJCKj5Lh3-Oqr4jpRiza?dl=0, in the English version of the PDF, go to page 20, where the text says "You may discard a proficiency tile at any time to gain 2 of that attribute. If you discard a proficiency tile, it is removed from the game." You can also download the rulebook PDF at orangenebula.com/product/vindication/ (link near the bottom) for the product already on sale, it is the same updated PDF. I understand there might be an older rulebook that didn't have this, if there is a older version, but I was unable to find it. (edited link to KS)
It's so funny, Rahdo, I'm often conflicted whether you're progressing the level of Analysis Paralysis that naturally occurs within a game, or you're helping me tolerate it better. I hope the latter, cuz I got Vindication and I am easily AP-ed so, I'm hoping your run-throughs are going to help me in the end and not make me want to chuck this game out the window ^_^
Hey Rahdo, thanks for the gameplay and review. Components/art/gameplay looks great...I just don't totally understand the central player tension in the game. Is it just basically a race, where each player is not particularly concerned with what the others do? Kind of like Oracle of Delphi? Considering backing this on Kickstarter, but currently it looks like mostly multiplayer solitaire. That's not a bad thing, just wanted to understand the game better and make sure I'm not missing something. Thanks!!!
yes, very much like delphi in that regard. the main interaction comes from you claiming locations that other players need to use, so they have to pay you for the privilege :)
I like that playtrough, it is the best i found, good job Rahdo! But i think in the rules that the lowest numbered players was supposed to play first at the beginning of the game...
Wait isnt that wrong when you claimed the region? aren't you supposed to control a region that you activate? 13:00 since you upgraded your mount, it means you should control the command post
no idea. the review copy i got sent came pre-sleeved. you could post on bgg and ask though... the devs seem pretty responsive to questions over there :)
Seems like first player has a huge advantage. Not only do you basically get two free points by blocking in one of your opponents which they can do nothing about, you also could have gained that strength proficiency without your opponent being able to stop you. Is there a benefit to going second?
Usually if you were playing a game you pick where you start, so you would not choose to start right next to each other, i think he did it for showing game elements
@@zakkchambers263 I think he said the starting spots were randomly chosen, but you could always house rule it so that if your spots are next to each other you reroll (or whatever mechanism the game uses).
2 points is largely immaterial, and it's arguably the 2nd weakest use of the guild token in the game. much better to use it to give yourself more conviction or influence, especially early in the game. i concern about not having equal access to a given proficiency tile isn't really an issue either, i think. if you chase after those right away, you're really stunting your growth. there's much more important uses for your attributes early in the game to get an engine built. the only reason anyone would try to grab one of those tiles early is because they have a goal for it, and even then you'd want to put it off as long as possible.
@@FishofMuu well lookee that! there seems to be something going on, yes. it might have something to do with the polarized lens i've got snapped on. or just a smudge. will have to check it out! thanks for the heads up! :)
ruclips.net/video/YgIVXWPdB2Q/видео.html You say that "if you grab it you might hold on to it for the rest of the game" if you grab the tile you either keep it the rest of the game or you destroy it for 2 or that attribute, if you grab it she can never get it in a two player game
Came for the board game, stayed for the linguistic pedantry... :-D

you can only control a region you have visited that turn unless you already control it so controlling the gaping maw was an illegal action.

I think seeing this game without expansions played first would have been helpful. The wheels started to fall off for me a bit.

in his videos Rahdo is always the first player and jen the second no matter what the rule is to determine who goes first
Set this up today and didn't get a chance to try it out. Glad I didn't, this will help reinforce the rules. Also added the expansion mini-game!
Goof 15.33 any proficiency tiles discarded are removed from the game not returned to the board. Page 20.
note added... thanks
Thank you for the sneak peek. This looks like a really interesting game. I want to see more...!!!
What is the card sleeve size of the game ? I’m using mayday 70*70 . It was very wide
i dunno. here's a thread about it i found via google search: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2091918/sleeves

yup, check the klingon subtitles and you'll see this goof mentioned :)
I think you can only take control of a region you visit, not any area you are adjacent to.
yup, this is noted in the klingon subtitles :)
Nice runtrough! When and where can i get a copy?
It's right now on retail and so far, I think, there is only this way to grab one: epoch.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders/144165
Looks great!
What size sleeves does it take and how many?
no idea. the review copy i got sent came pre-sleeved. you could post on bgg and ask though... the devs seem pretty responsive to questions over there :)
Owner said 70mm x 70mm
Just over 200 if you get the 12 card promo, otherwise I believe it is 198
The game comes with a really amazing insert. The cards fit perfectly if they are sleeved. If. Or they kind of flop around in there

oops, forgot to add there's no extra bonus for going later in turn order, but again, i don't really see that as an issue :)
