Old saying from my guitar teacher back in the day. “Play to an audience of 1 like you would play to an audience of 1000 because that 1 person took time out of their schedule, and put their life on hold, for YOU. The least you can do is make it worth their while. If you play your heart out to that one person then they have a reason to come back next time, and bring friends.”

I'm sure that most of us have heard our mothers deliver a similar, grounding speech with such brutal honesty at one point in time. One that can be summarized in twelve words:

the thing is, she is not wrong like at all.
a real failure would be giving up on yourself, the thing is?? in life?? you can achieve just about anything in life through hard work and determination, the more determine you are the harder you will work and too stay determined you got to enjoy what you are doing.
it's like she said, she didn't started big she got big because she keep on going for herself enjoying doing streams even if there was going to be only a few people in it because she just wanted to have fun and do something that made her feel like her situation in life is not going to be a problem.
she got big when she sang the kulikitaka song and people meme about it and that got the attention of more folks, who is to say you won't make something that will call the attentions of others??
you only become a failure when you give up on your self, not everything is going to work out in life but what is worth doing something you can't enjoy?? that is just it do it because you like it and keep on going who know you will make something that others enjoy and in a blink of a eye you will see the road you just walkthrough.
never give up... that is the key.

Fun Fact: I hated Ironmouse when I was first exposed to her. Ya wanna know why? Because my first exposure was hearing her through my friend's mic cuz the dude has his youtube and stream videos going on a side laptop. He doesn't want them in the background while talking to us, he wants to be able to watch them and play games simultaneously, so all I would ever hear is this high-pitched awful squeaky voice from his end and it ground my gears so bad.
I finally broke one day and had to look her up just for fucking context and actually seeing her and not getting patches of audio filtered through someone elses mic made all the difference. She and Nyanners are my favorite vtubers.
Also I have never been exposed to a vtuber through a debut. it's always after the fact.

As someone who used to busk (and now just occasionally), streaming feels just like that: performing to an audience you're trying to grab; be it 1 or 100. Besides, if you can get 1 to consume your performance/content; it's already an accomplishment. As long as you stay true to yourself and you're passionate about doing it, do it.

I remember Mouse’s first debut. It looked amazing. I thought “Season 2? Damn! So this is like her 2nd or 3rd debut!” I didn’t think that was her first debut, but she did say she was very nervous.
A lot of people talked shit about her new model. Said it didn’t look as good as her old model, that they liked the old model. The new model this, new model that. More people than you’d expect, an uncomfortable number.
People who care about what their audience thinks and trying to please everyone, worried about views, would have lost their minds.
IronMouse basically said “if you don’t like it, you can get the fuck out of my chat”.
That model is her favorite model TO THIS DAY. She ALWAYS uses it. It is now as recognizable as her old model was. She cherishes this model as if it was a gift from God, because it basically was. She’s good friends with the artist who made it.
Let this be a lesson to anyone who envies IronMouse, compares themselves to her, or worries so much about success. She is the LAST person you want to do this with. For IronMouse, being on Twitch, being able to stream, being able to do anything, is a blessing.

i stream somewhat regularly, or at least i try to, and i barely get 1 viewer. I do it because it's a hobby. I'm not expecting money out of this, and i can't exactly keep a regular stream schedule due to work, my trash sleep schedule, and my horrid indecisiveness on what to play. (I can sit for hours, racking my brain trying to think of something to play, and by the time i can think to actually pick something, it's too late)
I can go for hours and not get a single message in chat or any viewers except bot hosters or bot accounts asking me to buy viewers. It can be really demotivating and harsh on my self-esteem, so I get it. It's gonna suck.
But those times I do have someone in the chat, even if it's a friend of mine popping in, i'm really happy. I was thrilled when I had someone I didn't know appear in chat and stick around, and even came back for other streams.
Just knowing someone likes me enough to come back and interact gives me that nice boost of serotonin. Knowing that I made them smile hits me with that good stuff. My biggest issue is I wish I could find the energy to visit other small streamers and do the same for them. Due to my own issues, I find it difficult to relax while doing nothing. When I do pop in to see other streamers, I can't stick around long, but when I have money i like to pass on a sub or two to keep people motivated. I want them to enjoy doing this because I know how hard it is to keep going when no one is watching.
I might not ever get to the point where I get loads of people in chat. I might not ever even need mods. But if I can just have those few people hanging out in chat, enjoying the show, I'll be happy.
You need to enjoy doing it. You need to have patience. Don't bet on a big breakout of popularity. Don't even bet on making Affiliate or whatever. That's how you hurt yourself.

    • @Grabnok

I've been attempting content creation for years. Ever since the later times of Dark Souls 1 I tried making videos and literally anything.
      Barely got shit.
But that initial depression didnt help me. When I got demotivated and didnt upload much, that hurt my consistency and hurt my chances at growth. Over the years it was a constant struggle of trying and then not trying. I never had the chance to experiment and learn what does and doesn't work. It sucks.

    • @Cosmstack
      @Cosmstack 3 года назад +2

That feels a little bit disingenuous to say towards the Hololive talents. Hololive requires you to have previous experience to even get a chance of joining, so they too started from 0. Getting into Hololive can't be easy either. They don't just accept you. They have to work hard for it. Once you're in Hololive, yes you more or less get 50k-100k subs before you even debuted, but that wasn't always the case either. As a company, Cover had to grow their audience (and their business. It wasn't a big and rich company when starting out) too when they started out.

Is hololive. Ollie first debate stream itself had 100k subscribers on RUclips before it was over.
