- And so the pre-TAS shoot week with Larry Chen continues. On this episode, we hit up Nob Taniguchi’s private garage where he keeps his S15 street car & 180SX practice car. It was then over to Orido’s shop to check out what him and Maaya have been up to and got to drool over the recently upgraded Ridox JZA80 Supra!

Keep up the awesome videos! None of the channels cover Japanese car culture as good as this :) I really like the blend of the cinematic shots Alec makes with the Gran Turismo sounds, sometimes makes it feel so unreal (like GT7 Scapes mode) and then going back into reality with your commentary. This is making my coming to Japan again itch so big! Definitely the goal for 2025 :)

Insane content, fabulous feature on NOB and his garage! Big fan of him during his D1 days and yes, his S15 is the definition of perfection! When I think of a perfect S15 build I will think of NOB's, just personal opinion here.
That 911 at the carpark gives off 'Midnight' vibes though, like the Yoshida's special!

It's a small detail in this vid, but seeing the KoruWorks parts on the blue S14 at N-Stage really makes me smile. Back in 2004, myself and a few good friends were new to drifting and eager to take in the sport in any way we could. We traveled from Atlanta to LA to catch the GT Live event where a number of D1 drivers were competing, and it absolutely thrilled us to see these guys in person and even take goofy pics with NOB, Orido, Nomuken, Immamura and have a chance to get autographs and drool over their cars up close.
Among our group was Tyler Clayton, who went on to start KoruWorks nearly a decade later. Tyler sadly lost his battle with cancer this past summer, and while I knew his shop has a huge following in the US it's so cool to see parts he developed on high-quality builds in Japan (especially shops that drivers like NOB use for their personal cars). He was incredibly humble about his success and while I somewhat fell out of the drifting/car world a while back, it's inspiring to see the influence he ended up having on the scene.

Is this the same S15 that got featured in Speedhunters a while back? That Vertex wide body and Project Mu brakes are unmistakable. But it had stickers on it a while back and running black Advan wheels.
Also, Max Orido's Supra for me is a perfect example of a Supra. The Ridox kit is just a perfect blend of modified but keeping the stock body line. Also, the dude is just cool! Hahaha!
Yep same car, but Taniguchi had it 'restored' in 2016 where it got stripped into bare chassis and got spot welded and cycle fender. the white paint on the car is now Pearl white from Lexus while spec of the car pretty much the same
I was 16 (2003?) when I first saw Taniguchi drifting his Red S15 (yellow bay) at Nikko Circuit on a Drift Tengoku Vol. 6 on VHS. What an absolute legend.
8:35 People need to understand that the only thing with actual value in his Garage was The Honda VFR750R ❤ Don't get me wrong Im mean the resale value but Japan people respect other people properties in general but that bike nowadays you cant find 1 under maybe $45,000 to $50,000 USD but the cars are the cars and I love them a little more.
Each video only gets better and better. A collab video with Noriyaro in the future would be super cool.

It's almost 20 Years ago when i met Taniguchi & Orido at their homes in Yokohama Area.
I met Ueno Takahiro and went with him to Orido and have a talk in front of his house and checked out his Supra and so on. Then we went quickly to Taniguchi and have a quick talk and took some pics together.
Ah~ great memory.
And all that on my first visit in Japan in 2005 😁

Out of all the cars that I wish we could get in the US, the S15 is at the very top of my list. I’ve always thought it was the perfect platform, it looks amazing and has perfect proportions to my eyes. Now that we are getting closer to being able to import them, I’m taking a serious look at that process so that I can get the car of my dreams.
Do it if you can. They've been legal up here in Canada for almost 10 years so you see them around here and there. They break my neck every time I see one, and I've driven my brother's Spec R a bunch. Depending on where you are in the U.S. it might be easiest to import one from Canada. But you might save money if you just import one yourself directly from Japan.
I love the contrast of a super-wide slammed 911 next to an Emma Peel-spec Lotus Elan! Dare I say, "only in Japan..."
That Suzuki Twin's wheels are the size of a later-year classic Mini; my 1989 one has 5x12" wheels on 165 tyres!

always loved Taniguchi's driving style, especially after seeing it in person back at D1 USA 2003. he should've won, but the USA "one more time" curse got him. one of the old classic videos that will always be in my memory for him was him going crazy drifting perfectly in his 86 on the touge in giant untied boots, and then spinning because they get stuck under the pedal xD

Perhaps this is my favorite content that you upload in your YT channel Dino. Taniguchi-san’s S15 is one of the nicest looking Silvia out there. Also did Taniguchi-san say that he owns 15 cars? If so, does he had a garage somewhere in the country side where he park his cars? If I remember correctly, you mention in one of your videos that space in Japan is quite a premium right? Also, other cars that Taniguchi-san owns if I remember correctly is an R35 GTR, a Toyota GT86 and a Toyota Aristo JZS161 that he showed in his channel. By the way Dino, I am looking forward for your uploads regarding tokyo auto saloon and it’s nice to see Larry Chen in your channel. Lastly, I just want to say belated happy new year to you and nice content as always.
