The last Bond movie I watched was when a woman was assigned the 007 number. In essence they did gender swap that James Bond role by stating that James bond was retired but not his number. I stopped watching at that point and will stick with the older movies.
Bond died at the end. And in the credits it did said "007 Will Return", as common in later films, altho they all said "James Bond Will Return in____ (next movie already being made)". I read at the time, the actress Lashana Lynch whose character took the 007 prefix would return as 007 in the next film. It did seem a distortion of Ian Fleming's intent, but on the other hand, the British Intelligence at the time of the books was quite small and the notion seemed to be the agents with 'a licence to kill' wouldn't number more that 10. References are made to other 00 prefix agents who died or retired. Mostly killed.
I don't want a female main character using the 007 prefix for a streaming service's profits. But an authentic part of the Fleming books was Bond was threatened with losing the 007 prefix and being demoted/transferred. He'd become jaded, resentful, drank too much and failed fitness tests. Especially in the later books, so that part was near 'real".

"NO TIME TO DIE", the latest James Bond movie, was too woke as it is. I gave it 1 out of 10. In the movie there was a female 007, seemed like a DEI pick, and James Bond had a child, and James Bond died at the end, did not escape. It was a BS James Bond movie. The only high point was agent Paloma that helped Bond, whom should had been the Bond girl. It was the worst Bond movie ever, it did not follow the Bond formula. And I will never accept a female Bond.
Of course it followed the Bond formula, complete with two main female characters, betrayal, Bond being responsible for the destruction of a master-mind's huge hidden lair. I'm totally against the perversion of the male, traditional Bond character, but it's not unlikely that, with his tally or women, he fathered a kid or two. Setting up the Nomi character as Bond's replacement was really wrong. I'd never call it the worst Bond movie. I'd give that award to some of the Roger Moore films, where he openly smirked at the camera, clearly saying "Yeah, I know it's sh1t, but it pays well". Or where the makers failed to find a decent Connery replacement, Brosnan not being convincing and Dalton even worse. I'm 100% against a female 007, but at least Craig made a Bond as was intended.

In Ireland, we have a remarkable garden of remembrance. Considering our chequered history with England it is still a place of dignity, reflection, and respect. Much of our globalits political class these days are anti the communities that elected them. Hopefully we don't see this debate in Ireland.

I mentioned it earlier today on another comments section that there were enough wonderful women who had sacrificed themselves for the good of the world at large during WWII, like Virginia Hall in SOE, the same group that formed the basis for Ian Fleming's Bond, M, Q and Miss. Moneypenny that they can literally start a parallel storyline but based on the strengths of those women, not bending a true multi generational hero into something that nobody would recognise.
It's high time the 007 film series end completely. There have been six actors playing the character over the sixty + years since the first Bond film hit theaters in 1962. The world does not need another, no matter who it is. Arguably Sean Connery was the best actor portraying the part; and while George Lazenby used to get a lot of flak for being the "worst Bond" the one film he was in- On Her Majesty's Secret Service- is now considered one of the best of the series.

After the war he went into Law and became Secretary to The law Society of Northern Ireland. Eventually his hard drinking caught up with him and he died crashing his car into a farmers vehicle. Paddy was awarded 4 DSO's and should have been awarded the Victoria Cross for his singular courage at Oldenburg during Operation Howard. Not that he would have cared. Keep your fictional James Bond. Paddy 'The Irish Lion' is the man.
