Hello Joe. You are such a geniune interviewer. I'm a 55 year old jazz/rock guitarist, so I'm from your generation. You can sense how special and rare these guys are. They're like youngsters who landed in our present world from a time capsule from the late 1960s through the 1970s... I went to grade school and high school with the drummer's father near Frankenmuth, Michigan...
These fellas.. what a class act; their music, attitudes and intelligence is so refreshing. I just discovered them yesterday and already obsessed. Sadly they played in my town last year when I was clueless to their existence... hope they come around again soon! I've been listening to their music non-stop and have watched quite a few interviews, reaction videos, their tiktok compliation, and a podcast filled with GVF facts.. already a full-blown Gretahead 😅 just ordered my first GVF shirt and can't wait to wear it!
These kids are unconsciously good. Their lyrics, music and vocals are spectacular! For some reason, I am reminded of Uriah Heap. This Band's music blows today's music away. Keep it goin' boys, you ROCK!
I'm amazed that I like a newish band like this. I'm almost 60 years old, I have loved classic rock from before it was called classic. This is a great ROCK band!!!
So great to see a group of young guys making an old-fashioned thing called rock and roll ---- where the MUSIC comes first! Not the image, not the video, not the corporate hard sell. Just straight-ahead rockin' energy and a commitment to musical excellence Number One. I saw Led Zeppelin live in 1969 on their first North American tour and this is what they were like---- stripped down, just guitar, bass, drums and vocals. No unnecessary BS. I'm sure a lot of young kids today will love them because they are such a great alternative to the incredibly boring dead Rap/HipHop/Technodance canned digital drum garbage that dominates everything today.
That's another thing I love about these guys, they come from a listening background to many genres of music same as I did my family is musical we went to sleep and woke up listening to accordions, banjos, drums, fiddles -my very favorite is mountain music cause you are getting a full story or conversation but it's in song. When Josh names artists I know who he is talking about-but honestly this is the first rock band I have purposely listened to in 58 years. And I am glad we have them around. They are good family people.
I always find myself coming back to this interview. Thank you for having these wonderful boys and for your contribution to the Musician's Hall of Fame, Joe. Rest in peace. You will be missed.
What an amazing interview by Joe, may he rest in peace. I was saddened to hear of his passing, but this interview show his amazing live and heart, almost like a father talking to his boys. When Duane Eddy came out, yoy know how he cared for theses guts by asking Duane to show up. Duane also so his heart too, I was brought to tears by Joe and Duane's care. It was like a Christmas morning moment. Very well done, two giants showing their respect for the band, now all you complainers out there: Shut the heck up. You can switch heck with your favorite word, lol.
3:26 love this idea of building a relationship or being able to get along with someone better if you’re traveling to beautiful places together. Hope this is how it is with my dad on our big road trip next year
The part about the parent or in my case a grandparent complimenting is huge confidence booster. After our band broke up, my drummer and I would jam in his basement and his grandfather, God rest his soul, was a grumpy guy and was always miserable but in a funny way. Well, we were jamming on Stones and we did some blues and Chuck Berry. His grandfather, who was like a grandfather to me as well, said "So, you guys are good. I like the Chuck Berry." I don't think he realized that we were a pretty successful gig band, playing a lot of the east coast, but mostly in our home town of Philly. We had a house band gig at a legendary Philly Rock and Roll bar that is gone now. I don't think his grandfather payed any attention. We had a bit of a break because I was a professional BMX rider, though I wasn't big time, but I am a Philly BMX legend. The singer/rhythm guitarist was a BIG TIME pro BMX rider and we both had a million friends. Six of our songs are in BMX videos that were sold around the world. I chased my dreams and it was a good time. I've since become a music teacher, teaching 4 instruments, though I can play more, and a father. My daughter is starting on harmonica. She's two and plays better than I can.
This is such a good interview! Ive been binge watching alot of their interviews after seeing them live again. They make me so proud to be a Michigander ✨🤍☮️
I love seeing this whole different side of them. Not in a bad way but most of the time they would be chaotic and talk over each other and here they are in this interview just down to earth and feel like I could have a nice conversation with them forever
Also seeing them in general getting motivation from famous singers especially guitar players who've been in the industry for awhile you can really read it in their eyes like we are definitely staying on this path
I was just visiting the Musicians Hall of Fame yesterday after seeing GvF play Thursday night near Nashville, and this guy Joe Chambers walked over and chatted me and my friend up and gave us his thoughts on the band. Very cool guy.
They got a bad rap and was picked on alot by people saying they are trying to sound like Led Zeppelin. Thats not so much nowdays. They have thier own sound. This interview really showcases how well rounded and what nice guys they really are. Great interview Joe. 👍🏻😎
Ella… I like my guest being able to tell their story without interruption but I must say the guys in the band treat each other with tremendous respect and don’t cut into the other guy who is speaking. I find it’s usually the interviewer who cuts off the guest to jump to their next question without listening to what the guest is trying to say. The interviewer usually goes and stays on the lead singer or maybe lead guitarist and stays there. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching our channel.. Best, Joe
Hi Mike…. I did enjoy it. I already liked them from watching other interviews and wanted to give them a chance to talk about how they created their style/sound without saying something about Led Zepplin. Tom Petty had critics saying he was a Dylan clone which was unfair and of course he found his sound just like GVF is doing. Everyone is influenced by somebody that came before them. Thanks for watching… Joe

I love how completely starstruck they got when Duane Eddy and how they didn't seem to know what to do with themselves. Sam being like "This is real, right? I didn't drink too much coffee? I'm hallucinating?"

@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum those are awesome cars. I still have a 67 conv Camaro I bought when I was 16 and an ss350 that I bought at18. I started working at 10 (60hrs a week) and bought them on my own as well as a 69 pace car and a 68 conv. Sold the pace car in 96 when I blew out a knee and couldn't work but had to buy diapers. The 68 is a rat now and the other two have been in storage since the late 80s or early 90s. Broke my back in 98 and have been through some hard times, the wife is gone but I flat out refused to sell the cars. Hope to break them out very soon and enjoy them again before I'm gone and my kids can enjoy them then. I played in bar bands in the 80s but haven't since. May be breaking out my 74 rickenbacker bass soon too. My son is better than I ever was on guitar and has resurrected some old feelings of love of music. He's been playing less than 5yrs and is pulling off Hendrix and SRV already. I'm glad you are posting what you do man we love it. I'd love to come see your hall and take u for a cruise in the ss. Thanks man keep up the great work. 🤘😛✌♥️🖖👍😎
I really think they shouldn’t discuss their previous drummer in public and interviews. The guy was never a public figure or a music professional. It’s their duty to protect his privacy and not discuss him in interviews, no matter what happened between them. He was just a teenager who crossed path with them at some point
... Oh, mi-?!! OMG, Dwayne Eddy-!!! not only IS-HE an early iconic influence on me, to listen to, to hear & to learn from & to emulate; he is also one of my favourite guitarists-guitarist, Bill Nelson, from Bebop Deluxe ...
... &, for Greta Van Fleet to be unexpectedly gifted, live to air, with brand new iconic instruments from such an icon as Dwayne Eddy, is, in my most humble opinion, equal to being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize-!!! ...
Peter Addison, my dad, Joe, loved surprising people… he was so excited planning the unexpected met up between his friend Dwayne and the guys- and GVF were genuinely so excited to hang out with Dwayne at the museum. Glad you enjoyed this interview, thanks for supporting the channel. Hope you can visit the museum sometime. Best, Britt
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum ... yo, Brit-!!! ThankYou so much, for your reply. What a ray of sunshine, GVF are. They are revitalisation energizing trailblazers ...
They’ve moved way beyond covering Zep songs...they have matured and are doing great rock music. I DO wish that they wouldn’t try so very hard NOT to acknowledge the obvious influence of Zeppelin on their sound.
Hi Chuck… well one was mine(Joe) and the other was Duane Eddy’s who shot a clip meeting the guys before their interview with me started. Good eyes you have there:) Thanks for watching….Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum Wowwza.... I have a reply from the MR. CHAMBERS..... I have found you due to a Joe Bonamassa interview...I love the LONG FORMAT interview or news story and you do such a WONDERFUL JOB of getting into the meat of the Musician ( RIP MEATLOAF ) I am really learning alot of minutia that I didn't before. I am currently now on Marty Stuart... & I see that Vince Gill is on the que. I would like to see you do a special tour of the storage area where so many instruments were flooded during the 2015 flood in nashville. I saw Little Big Town right after that and they told the story of so many instruments being lost, it was maybe a 3 minute story during that show and I did all I could to not cry in public. Look forward to many more of your interviews... Marty just ordered pizza during the break.... sausage/ cheese/ jalepeno for me please.... Lovin ya all the way from HOUSTON
Thanks Chuck…. Well actually we got hit hard by the flood in 2010. Long story short the city took my first museum by eminent domain to build a new convention center which displaced us. With only seven days notice to relocate or move our museum and it’s entirety before demolition was to begin on our building we in a hurry placed much of our artifacts in storage at the same place many musicians kept their gear. It flooded two months after we were forced to move there. I have video the first day we were allowed to enter the storage building a week later. I may share it one day on our RUclips channel. Thanks again for watching…Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum I will look forward to that with much anticipation. If you ever make your way to Houston please let me know... I can show you some good BBQ .... I am on the south side near Clear Lake and NASA are... Galveston can be fun as well... You take care sir.
Hi Christopher…. Thanks for watching and sharing your comments. You are exactly right that Zepplin was not mentioned on purpose but it was me that made the choice. I never told them that I wouldn’t and they never asked me not to bring up Led Zepplin as a influence. It’s obvious they were but I knew their Dad exposed them to all the blues legends from a very early age so even though they were very into Zepplin they were also fans of who influenced Led Zepplin too. If they brought up L Z I would have elaborated on their thoughts of them too but I did not want to do the same interview with them that every other interview I had seen or listened to brought up. I didn’t think it was fair anymore than I thought it was fair that in their early years every interviewer said Tom Petty was a Bob Dylan clone. His voice naturally resembled Dylan but as he grew as a artist he found his own sound and I already see that happening with GVF… Again thanks for watching and supporting us…. Best, Joe
I would have loved for Covid to not be brought up at all during this. 😂 it instantly dates it and ruins the flow. Everyone knows about it already. And it still took 6+ months to drop the masks 😂
Hi Lu… six years from now it might not be so obvious so for the benefit of those who may watch this in the future it will add to their enjoyment hopefully knowing what was happening at the time. Thanks again for watching… best, Joe

SS 67….Look forward to seeing you at the museum. Best…… Joe
Rewatching this was a great decision ❤❤
Awesome show thanks for posting!
Thanks for watching Robert….Joe

Nice... very enjoyable interview.
"The well will only run dry if you stick to a formulaic means of production". Wise words Sam. At what, 22 years old at the time?
connection parents are the best!!!you guys just really live in the big picture..music rules!we resonate and i thank you
Great interview Joe! I would love to hear you interview Chris Gantry about his long career in songwriting in Nashville.
Thanks for watching Rebecca.... best, Joe
Can't wait for you to return to Australia!
POV You’re watching in ‘22 and they’re talking about the end of Covid 😅😭
I really think they shouldn’t discuss their previous drummer in public and interviews. The guy was never a public figure or a music
professional. It’s their duty to protect his privacy and not discuss him in interviews, no matter what happened between them. He was just a teenager who crossed path with them at some point
Hanson are not gone. They have 20 albums in and one of the most loyal fanbase in the industry
Love these boys , mystical !❤
I just realized that that must have been one of the first appearances of the infamous jeans.
how sweet they are
Nice one Joe 👍
Thanks 7.....Best, Joe
Crystal 🔮 Children ❤... love these guys... i had a similar musical up bringing...
It really creates a fantastic ear for music 🎶 🎵 👌
Best,
Britt

... yo, Brit-!!!
ThankYou so much, for your reply. What a ray of sunshine, GVF are. They are revitalisation energizing trailblazers ...
Can’t wait to see Rival Sons withGreta
SAM❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don't think there is anything sexier than that.
They’ve moved way beyond covering Zep songs...they have matured and are doing great rock music. I DO wish that they wouldn’t try so very hard NOT to acknowledge the obvious influence of Zeppelin on their sound.
Thanks for watching W...Joe
I guess it makes sense
4 years ago! C'mon!

do you still find a completely quiet space & noodle for hours every single day ?
Is that martin?
Am I the only one seeing 6 mugs and 4 band members?
Everyone knows I'm ugh lee
Which son??? Take your pick
💟🤘🏻
Let's play a game of "guys, avoid mentioning Zep as an influence... but instead list all the people that Zep paid lawsuits to 😆
Hi Christopher…. Best, Joe
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum greatly appreciated!
I think my trying to spare his feelings would actually help him become a cash baby he dreamt of
Why anyone would think this band is associated with smash mouth????? It's the waffles ...... go bother someone else 😂
They don't look anything like Robert Plant - can't be his love-children! 💗🌵
Lol. Grand children
I thought it was Joe Chambers the jazz drummer. Not this cool guy.
My son assumed he was the cash baby ..... son you're not in a band 😅 you have yet to achieve anything go tie your shoes ....
You guys are making fools out of america! Thank you for letting folks know proper what normal is! If they have minds - blown
@@MusiciansHallofFameMuseum I totally disagree. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. Great interview, loved seeing the boys get into some of their history, keep up the good work bud.
I feel sorry for the guy who isnt a brother
