The funny things is that Duran Duran are still creating albums. They were massive back in the 80s and that's why people tend to think of them as an 80s band, but their most recent album came out in 2021.
Great review guys and thank you for doing Duran They are in my opinion the most diverse band in history and I’m lucky to be one of the biggest Duran fans. From the age of 13 in 1988 they grabbed my musical mind and have taken me on a musical journey in life ever since Rock / Pop / Dance / Electronic/ Heavy Rock / Funk and at times a combo of some at once, no one does it like Duran Can I say try out Any song from the 90’s and 00’s and 10’s and 20’s and you won’t be disappointed Duran haven’t been an 80’s band well since 1989 but the stigma as weighed them down but they fight the press and the general shit they get thrown at and like you guys when you hear a DD track from 1990 onwards you’ll see it ain’t all about the 80’s 😊
Epic 🎉🎉🎉 brilliant awesome amazing band Duran Duran are totally true musicians 42 years in the music 🎼🎶 business wow wow wow wow this track is epic Simon lebon Voice amazing Vocals cords fantastic brilliant more Duran Duran oh yes best band on planet earth 🌎🌍
A lot of people think DD are just a pop band. They are soooo much more than this. What you hear in the charts is not all they do....delve into that rabbit hole :D
At the end of the song, after the announcement on the TV news, you can listen to the Orchestral sample from Rocco E I Suoi Fratelli(Rocco And His Brothers) "Valzer Ai Laghi" by Nino Rota, one of the best movies directed by Luchino Visconti, a superb Italian director. Did you know that?
This is taken from Duran Duran's live concert "Unstaged." Except, the song is not live but uses the album track for this video. The weirdness in the images is attributed to David Lynch- known for the TV series "Twin Peaks" & for the film "Blue Velvet." He directed the visuals for this video.
It’s (the leopard) a metaphor for a woman. Based on the book and movie The Collector. If you want a DD song to review with a crazy video try Electric Barbarella. It’s a different lineup with only Nick and Simon from the original lineup, but it’s my favorite song besides this one. Just found your channel and I love it, will definitely subscribe.
The creation of this song and the news report at the end were influenced by a movie called The Collector, from the 1960s. Watching the movie is probably your best bet for understanding the song...but it's a disturbing movie, so maybe just enjoy the song. 😂
There is another concert version of this song without Kelis, and instead, Anna Ross their backup singer does the vocals with Simon. The concert is called A Diamond in the Mind and The Man Who Stole a Leopard is amazing! You'll even love it better than this version.
Good point and somewhat close. The Bone Collector is a film that came out in 1999. The Collector is a film that came out in 1965 and The Man Whole Stole A Leopard was inspired by the this release. In addition, the song was inspired by The Collector. It was not based on the film. If it was then elements of the film would have been more true in the lyrics. The similarity to the film and to the song is that the The antagonist holds a woman captive. In the song, the main character has an obsession with a leopard and holds it captive.
This is one of my top favorite Duran Duran songs... love their atmospheric songs! "The Chauffeur" and "The Universe Alone" ❤

And they’re releasing another in a couple of weeks. I saw them live in august of this year and it was an EXCELLENT show.
This is possible one of the best Duran Duran songs ever. Sublime and majestic . Brilliant. Do New Religion

Once again best band in the world!
A lot of people think DD are just a pop band. They are soooo much more than this. What you hear in the charts is not all they do....delve into that rabbit hole :D
the leopard story isn't real....this is the secret of DD...they have an underlying meaning in all that they do

One of their best. Would love a review of The Chauffeur by Duran. My all time favourite song ❤

this song is inspired from the book The Collector
This is a song based on the movie The Bone Collector according to Nick the keyboard player.

It’s just the collector, the bone collector is something different. The collector is a book and movie about a man obsessed with a woman.
