The Vietnam War Reenactment courtesy of the Vietnam War Flying Museum of Houston (www.vietnamwarflight.com) and along with the Collings Foundation of Houston (www.collingsfoundation.org). The aircraft in participation is the A-1D Skyraider, O-2 Skymaster, Bell UH-1-V Huey, AH-1 Cobra, TA-4J Skyhawk, Mig-17F flown by Randy Ball (www.fighterjets.com), and what a lot of folks have been waiting to see for the last several years, the F-4D Phantom II !! Good to see the fabulous, or Phabulous I should say, Phantom flying again!! Great job to the Collings Foundation!!

Saturday October 21st, 2017.
My dad was Bill Bowers. He was in the back seat of the Phantom at this show. I was fortunate enough to work on this jet with him for 19 years, and even more fortunate to grow up around the F-4 and hearing his stories. I was on the ground crew for this show. What many people don’t know is my dad was fighting stage 3 cancer during this show. He was a tough man... A Marine all the way and he finally lost his fight in April of 2020. I was honored to be there when he took his last breath. I will always remember this day and I’m so glad there is a good video of it. Thank you so much!!
Oh My! I am so sorry to hear about the sad loss. You're right, it has been unknown to all of us in the audience. Gotta be really tough to fly a high performance jet in this kind of condition, and it sounds like he is a warrior! I sincerely want to say thank you to you and everybody with the Collings Foundation for all the dedications and commitment you have done in preserving these rare and precious national treasures and preserving history for all of us in the public viewing spectrum. As I have mentioned to your father in response to his feedback on this video you see below, this was the highlight as to why I traveled all the way from home in New Jersey for the Wings Over Houston air show, possibly my only chance to see the F-4D in action and it was definitely worth the trip. In the future I am also looking into making another trip down there if the timing will work in an effort to see this magnificent aircraft back to life again, maybe on a normal airport ops day.
My condolences are with you and everyone involved. Blue Skies Mr. Bill Bowers.
@@PlaneBrain1JB Thank you for your kind words and your support of our program!! It means a lot that people will come from all over the country to see the aircraft perform. Hopefully we’ll be able to fly the Houston airshow again some day.
F4 Phantom is pure evil! What a great aircraft! LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY PHANTOM! PHANTOMS PHOREVER!
Pretty cool seeing these old birds do their thing again.
This was perhaps one of the best WOH demonstrations outside of the massive fly over a few years before. Really good description by the announcer describing the entire process used in a pilot pickup. The 60's music blaring over the PA was a great touch.
