@@buddy_3899 I don't know, remember seeing some of it on TV once. It only has a 5.2 on IMDb lol. I do remember finding Molina's character to be a crazy, entertaining guy
fact this was the best Stereo typical middle eastern he did just missing the gold chains and. Taco meat chest lol but this was good how he kept saying I paid you over and Over lol
This has to be the funniest scene in the movie, except perhaps for Donnie's baffling act of driving a car through a store entrance. The interest that they take in his braces, on top of Alfred Molina's rage, makes it hilarious!
That first "No need for braces, Donnie" at 2:15 has lived in my head ever since I saw this in the theater in early 2000. Such a great scene. And Molina again bringing his A-game to a tiny role in a Paul Thomas Anderson film after his firecrackers scene in Boogie Nights.
The funny thing is, this guy seems like an incredibly good boss. Tolerated his shit sales, loaned him and didnt even charge him interest. Thats better than some parents would do, give him the keys donny.
Plus the beginning of the movie had incredibly fast camera movement not that it’s a bad thing it’s just for those who would have have a tough time following along with the pacing
This scene is badly written but I love it, it's hilarious and endlessly rewatchable, which showcases Paul Thomas Anderson's directing talent. Wish Molina had at least another scene in Magnolia.
I disagree about it being badly written... it shows the insanity and desperation of Donnie to once again be universally loved no matter the consequences... I do agree It would of been nice to see another Molina scene
When I was typing that months ago, I think I meant to say that the character of Solomon wasn't written very well. Not sure how I feel that scene now (apart from the fact that it is still very funny), but I think Magnolia is well written in general.
I think the characterisation is spot on. I work for a boss just like this. When he fucks up and you try to talk to him about it he just says "I pay you. I pay you"!
Alfred Molina is a literal chameleon actor, such a small scene but works so good with his character
You see Mojave Moon?
@@NeverSaySandwich1 I have not, is it good?

@@NeverSaySandwich1 hmmm may just watch it and find only his parts…
Alfred Molina was in Boogie Nights & Magnolia for just one scene but he was absolutely amazing, two of his best performances
I like how these two clearly care about Donny even if they're firing him.
Vincent Oostelbos Yeah they really do care about him
He’s exasperated with him and has finally reached the end of his patience.
Alfred Molina is so good!
Alfred Molina can play almost any ethnicity 👏👏👏

I never understood why he crashed his car in the store or why that was relevant for the film
@@BTBAM819 It was just another problem on top of the amount of debt he was already in. You feel bad for him but it's also funny

"We´re not a bank jerry" Part 2

I listened to Supertramp's Breakfast in America and it sent me here. Go Go Go!
You got struck by lightning that time in Tahoe,Donny,I don´t think braces are a good idea..... genuine concern haha.
HAHA! that line is classic..
“…no need for braces Donny.” 😂😂
"No need for braces Donnie!"
Haha. I love the guy in the back. Quietly stealing the scene and all the hard work Molina and Macy are pouring into it.
What a great scene, probably the best “getting fired” scene ever!
Alfred Molina plays a good middle eastern character in paul’s films boogie nights and This one
He wasn’t really Middle Eastern in boogie nights but you’re right I’m Middle Eastern and I would be convinced if he played a Middle Eastern
@@mohammedashian8094 “Rahad Jackson”, he at least has Arabic ancestry.
Perfect movie! It's all about the Acting no vfx, no crazy camera moviments etc...
They spend 10 million on vfx. What are you talking about?

Could have a movie with these 2
"Don't get strong Donny" lol
classic film
5000 dollars for braces he doesn't need? LOL
He wants braces to impress Brad the cute bartender who also has braces.
Molina is so amazing here I felt the shame as if he were firing ME! 😂
Alfred also did an amazing scene in promising young woman.
William H. Macy was never better than he was in this movie, maybe Fargo's a close second
He’s pretty great on Shameless, even though it’s a TV show.
“Give me your fucking keys” lol

I think it's "Driving sideways" by Aimee Mann.

I think its a great character, it reflects his father. thats why he plays it so agrily
