@@GPONTHEMOVE I am trying to move to Australia and Train to be a GP. I am gathering information, hard to know what is fact about working conditions and remuneration
Hello @@GPONTHEMOVE thank you for reaching out. I am an IMG working in UK, this is my eighth month. I am aware that by the 12 month I can apply for competent pathway registration. I'm afraid I have a lot of questions, but My main questions are: 1) how long do I have to work in Australia before I can apply for GP training based on the visa requirement ? ( I am not a British citizen) 2) do I have to work in rural areas for 10 years? 3) is it true rural GPs earn more than metropolitan or regional ones? If yes, how much per annum? Thank you so much 😊
@@sijr6176 1) do not know about the visa requirements for GP training - www.racgp.org.au/education/imgs, check this out maybe. 2) you will have a moratorium which means you can't really work metro but there are ways around it and something rural only means 40 mins commute from big cities. 3) I don't know how much rural GPs make but would love to know! :)
I am a GP trainee and this is the first I've heard of the 'jack of all trades' doctor, and I am gobsmacked. MY interest is dermatology and I am also interested in Wilderness medicine. Do doctors do a GPSI programme- where else would you get the training to do ops and surgeries? I am so intrigued by this. Thank you for the the info.
Hahaha, thanks for the comment. Where are you based? There are loads of courses both in the UK and Australia that help with minor surgery, I've done quite a few already and they have all been really informative. Here's one here - ruclips.net/video/vSDJl9EyGnI/видео.html
Did four years in Manchester post cct, city was good to me. Have not looked into perth, having grown up in london melbourne seems most similar, for all pros amd cons! Did you visit all the states in Aus first?
please make a video for UK GPs who want to move to Australia clarifying the moratorium and overall process with cost etc. it would be a massive help specially for IMGs.
@@GPONTHEMOVE i am currently in my home country and interested in gp ship in Australia. My family is staying in perth. I can not afford to live far from them and alone. Am i really bound to practice in DPAs which are only in remote areas very far from Perth or still there are Areas near by to practice? I have no idea where exactly i would get a job and it keeps me worrying.
@@mahrukhan7573 Perth DPAs are really not far from the city centre, some of them are only 40mins from the CBD and most people don't live in the CBD so I think this is certainly realistic!

I haven't. I chose Perth for the lifestyle and the weather which have both been great so far.
Very informative video. I wonder did you had to work in DPA areas?
It's complicated :) I have worked in both DPA and metro areas using relevant exemptions.

This is actually on my list, thanks for prompting me to "pull my finger out" and get on with it! hahaha
@@GPONTHEMOVE i would love to see that . I heard if you are img , you have to work 10 years in rural area .

Well, so far so good ;)
Can u please guide about DPAs? Pros and cons
That sounds like a cool topic. What exactly would you want covering?

Why do you want to go back?
Well, to be honest, there are 3 reasons ;)
Because working as a gp in Ireland is nearly as bad as the nhs😂
