I'm gonna try & finish up some projects & I'm thinking about reuploading old videos that I had to take down in the past. If I do that You'll get a slew of videos at once.
Believe it or not, I actually played some knock-off versions of “PAC-MAN” on my home computer during my childhood like “Pac-Mania 2” that has oddly different versions of PAC-MAN as well as instrumental music that strangely reminded me of a few of my favorite songs I loved to listen to today
Excellent video! It's unfortunate that Atari was one of the companies how made no effort to better emulate the arcade game with their port to the 2600. The game looks nothing like the arcade game. I know that the maze is supposed to be turned sideways, like some of the other versions in the video did, but the maze looks nothing like the arcade version. It's good to see that homebrew developers have fixed this issue with their excellent versions, accomplished even in the same 4K limitation. The best version on the 2600, though, is that 8K version. For the system, looks and sound fantastic.
Omg yes finally about time that this video came out as a huge fan of pacman it came as no surprise that this video would've caught my attention when i saw the thumbnail of this video im like oh heck yes finally im gald this video exists in the frist place also its got the best port of pac man on here its the Playstation one version from 1995s namco museum volume 1 so yeah thanks for uploading this video hopefully i can share this very video with all my friends on the pac man anmino so yeah also can you redo the ms pac man video as well please thanks so much your an amazing person for uploading this video for all of us fellow pac man fans to enjoy but yeah love the video nonetheless keep up the awsome work with making the video
Thanks so much for the kind words. I am a huge pac-man fan myself. :D This video was 7 months off & on. My original target was around 120 versions. But I kept running into road blocks making it. Emulation, rom location, & recording issues. I sought help from a few places that just didn't come through. But I do not fault them. Some things just don't always fall into place. Please leave me a link to the "pac man anmino" site . Also, any help with producing a Ms. Pac-man mega vid would be greatly appreciated ! Sources, roms, & what not. Just shoot me an email with the information if you don't mind. A Ms' Pac-Man video is in the works as we speak. :)
I've tried maybe only half a dozen pac clones. The BBC Micro version brings back memories. I see you found the unedited original version. The release version was called Snapper, a yellow dude in a cowboy hat which also had the ghosts replaced with generic bipedal baddies for legal reasons.
One of the better knockoffs is the one from the old Willy Wonka site, "Gobstopper Gobbler." It was pretty creative, too---the Energizers (read: Shock Tarts) did something different depending on what color they were (e.g. orange = lock the monsters back in their cages; purple = gain a WONKA letter, etc.), and you could only escape the maze by spelling out WONKA. Blatantly advertising to impressionable children, but it was pretty damn fun. The Wonka games should still be floating around somewhere on the 'net, and with a little digging, one should be able to find them.
I had the Atari 8-bit cartridge with the wide maze that was essentially identical to the Atari 5200 version shown here. A bunch of the ports to other personal-computer platforms (Amstrad, Commodore 64) look like someone (Atarisoft?) just ported that version directly to them.
The more recent ZX Spectrum version does, since it's running the original arcade ROM. However it doesn't appear identical to the arcade kill screen since the tile sizes had to be tweaked slightly for the smaller screen.
0:30 in case you are immediately wondering if this is a fan-made song, it is actually official and it is heard in the menu of the ios version of pac-man
Awesome one of the best games ever!! In fact I was playing a few round of PacMan 256 via STEAM before I logged onto YT, and saw this video in my feed :D
My friends had Apple II computers when I bought my Atari 400. The basic manual said you could only have 4 colors on the screen at the same time, so the Atari really couldn't play games. How wrong they were.
Being a Commodore 64 owner I had a PM clone called Munchy. It was pretty much an exact copy of the arcade version. Much better than any other version for the platform. you can look up on gb64 dot com.
I remember the Atari 2600 version. Then I saw it in the arcade and I remember feeling so cheated. Well, OK, not THAT cheated, I knew how limited that thing was.
