    "And what do you sacrifice?"
    "Calm.
    Kindness, kinship.
    Love.
    I've given up all chance at inner peace.
    I've made my mind a sunless place.
    I share my dreams with ghosts.
    I wake up every day to an equation I wrote 15 years ago from which there's only one conclusion; I'm damned for what I do.
    My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my...my eagerness to fight, they've set me on a path from which there is no escape.
    I yearned to be a savior against injustice without contemplating the cost and by the time I looked down, there was no longer any ground beneath my feet.
    What is my...what is my sacrifice?
    I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy, to defeat them.
    I burn my decency for someone else's future.
    I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see.
    And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude.
    So what do I sacrifice?
    Everything!"

      During this episode, I thought Kino's speech was epic and then Luthen decided to end the episode in such style......fantastic. Just the sadness and daring to hope with the last line, "Just stay with me, I need all the heroes I can get." Lonnie may not know it, but he and others (possibly like Andor), are Luthen's life preservers in a dark and turbulent ocean.

      The problem is there is a fight for the meaning of the Force.
      It is base on Taoism. But Lucas is trying to marry Western beliefs and Eastern, and want to turn Dark into evil, but that is not what it is in Taoism. There are those who try to remind Lucas the true meaning of the Force, which the imbalance is what is evil. What is worse is you got too many directors pulling star wars in multiple direction.
      THis director is removing the Jedi part and keeping Lucas view of the Empire as basically Nazis. But Star wars proper was more about Jedis and Sith.
      Remember in Star Wars, what is good and evil is complex. The first Rebel were the Separatist, but they are the bad guys in the Prequel.

    • @nicholaspennesi4973

      @@slewone4905 That's what all is about: a different perspective. Andor doesn't care about fate, prophecies and stuff like that because it tells a different story.
      It's about pretty normal people's point of view during that era, and it makes sense that you see the empire as nazis, because it's true. We've never saw the ground floor of the empire, we're used to see what happens on the top floor where huge characters live, and it's logic (to me) that to let you sense the ominous presence of the empire they show them as really mean people.
      Lastly, about your observation about rebels, you are completely right. What is considered to be the good guy was the bad one during the prequel era. And i'm GLAD that this show made room for this kind of reflection: Saw himself refuses at first to cooperate with Anto Kreegyr because he's a separatist, and then he listed different factions among the "rebels".
      It shows depth, complexity, grey areas, layers of different ideologies. We never got the chance to understand this much what the rebellion was in a mainstream media, and i'm happy about that.

    I'm so jealous
    I want this actor and these writers for my beloved Tolkien. Rings of power was a New Hope when Amazon launched the project. Now i'm sad, it was a total failure. Bad writers, Bad acting, Bad...everythings
    So i search some others shows to forget my deception, and someone told me to lokk at Andor. I'm not at all in Star Wars universe, but i remembered Rogue One, for it was a stunning movie. So i began to watch, and when Stellan Skarsgård first appear, i immediatly feel the legend it will be. This man produces a Giant acting, and , thanks to the unknown writer of this materpiece, Stellan brings me on the highest emotion i had since Breaking Bad
    I Can re watch this scene again and again.

    It's amazing how perfectly this embodies the suffering of the Revolutionary. I can imagine these words said by so many people, Robespierre, John Brown, Lincoln, Lenin, Gandi, Mao, Martian Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, Che Guevara, Fidel Castro; the list is endless. People who gave up everything to do right, no matter their faults and flaws, they saw the injustice of their time and did more than complain, did more than simple protest, they threw their lives upon the pyr of history and damned themselves to their course. That is the life of the Revolutionary, that is the true cost of change.

    That is why I think he's a ex-jedi.
    There's a few hint he might have been a jedi.
    But that speech let me think his anger took him to the dark side, so he decided to quit his jedi life.
    He's still wearing some replacement props for a lightsaber, something like toothpicks of chewing gun for an ex-smoker.
    «I'm damned for what I do.
    My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my eagerness to fight set me on a path for which there is no escape.

      The Ending of Blade runner resounds in my mind forever. This speech is good. I understand it. I got fired for defending a woman who was sexually harassed, and I understand what he is talking about. The rigidity of my morality would not let me choose a life that isn't destructive to myself. If I was to do it again, I would do it again. I right now see the abuse from the same freaking people. and I refuse to kneel to them. Despite the fact Luthen's speech means more to me. The ending is an epiphany. Maybe there is an epiphany exist for the watcher . That Luthen can't get close to anyone because of what he did, but it's not the same when we see the android or what eve you call them on Blade Runner, evolve.

      The Republic was corrupt. That was why the clone wars started. There was slavery in the outer rim, while the core practice hedonism at the expense of the smaller planets. Count Doku left because he saw the corruption of the Jedi and the Republic. Doku is one of the smartest, according to the librarian, and he was the one who figured out, the lightside does not mean good. He taught this to his Padwan, Qui Gon Jinn. the problem is Doku couldn't handle balancing both side of the force. Qui Gon WAS HOPING THAT Anakin would be able to. I am curious if the balance of the force will continue with Ashoka. Remember, she left the Jedi for a reason, and there is something with her and Darth Maul. He felt he can talk to her . anyways, Doku wasn't evil yet and left before everything started. So Luthen might of saw teh Republic was heading down hill, before it turned into the Empire.

    Luthen hasn't made any hard sacrifices. Everything he "sacrificed", he could reclaim if he chose to walk away from his chosen cause. Maybe not the easiest decision this far into the game, but he could walk away. Become just an antiques dealer, pursue relationships, disappear into the world of Imperial society. The others have not only placed their own lives at stake but those of their loved ones and acquaintances as illustrated but Andor's choices. By devoting himself solely to the cause, a choice he made willingly, he may have forgone personal relationships, but it was a choice he made for himself alone. Luthen hides behind a mask and an alias that, should he chose, he could abandon. The others are in far too deep for such an action and should they get caught, or be suspected, those in their orbits would also suffer. Luthen knows nothing of true sacrifice. His speech was condescending and self serving.

    • @luckwhisker
      @luckwhisker 2 года назад +3

      You don't have any idea that that's true. You simply don't know enough about the character's backstory. You don't know whether he was married, if he had children. You don't know the web of entanglements that would prevent him from walking away. There are plenty of people - even just counting those we see on screen - from Mon Mothma to Saw to Kleya Marki to Vel Sartha - who could easily kill him or arrange for him to be caught out by the Empire - if he chose to walk away. Let alone characters we don't know about. You don't consider what it would take to abandon his false identity. How much it would cost him. How difficult it would be to do it without being investigated, caught, and tortured. How in the world could you watch this show with your eyes and ears open and think that ANYONE is in deeper than Luthen?

      @@luckwhisker You are correct I don't know this character's back story. I can only go by what is written in the script. My interpretation of the text that was delivered on screen was that he chose a life devoid of personal relationships. He is by his own admission, a man alone. He has only his own life to lose. Which is my whole point. He chose to sever himself from personal relationships in devotion to the fight against the empire (which would be only about 20 years). He may be more involved than the others but by his own design he only has himself to lose, the others have put their friends and family at risk. That said, I loved the show. I'm of the belief that this and Rogue One are the two best Star Wars stories. I still think his big speech was self serving and condescending to the guy who was concerned for his and his family's safety.

    • @luckwhisker
      @luckwhisker 2 года назад +2

      @@nonspecific I think what you're missing is that if Luthen loses "only himself", the rebellion goes down with him. Every single person, including Lonni and his family, are tortured and die. He has the weight of practically the entire organized rebel cause on his shoulders, and is responsible for every single human being he works with. The only active rebel we hear about who isn't working directly with Luthen in the whole show is Kreegyr, and Luthen still knows who he is and what his plans are. That's enough to end Kreegyr too. Luthen's capture would end all of it. And he is all too aware of it.

    • @nonspecific
      @nonspecific 2 года назад +1

      @@luckwhisker I have opinions on those points too but I'm not interested in investing the time in the discussion. It's the hubris of the character that I am calling out. I'll leave it at that. Andor is a great show with dynamic characters, I can't wait for future seasons.
