@@Canucks-Digest I feel like i can never hear that nickname without John C. Reiley popping into my head. "Petey, Dragon and Nighthawk" would honestly make me laugh myself to tears
I’m actually happy about this trade, JT’s heart just wasn’t in it here anymore. With one more big move with a forward and the Canucks can go deep in the playoffs because they have even better goalies than last year
Canucks in the playoffs last year would have still got to Round 2 Game 7 and a chance to win...with Miller and *without* Pettersson. Without Miller but with Petey, they wouldn't have gotten out of the first round. People seem to be grasping here with false hope. Miller was the Canucks best player outside of Hughes.
Miller was a cancer to the team because of his anger issues whom fought with (Delia, Schenn, Horvat, Petterson...etc) letting him go was good for the morale of the team! He had a NMC & could've stayed if he wanted to but him agreeing to go back to the Rangers that he's done with Vancouver!
Let's put it this way, Pettersson will keep Juulsen out of the lineup and that is a huge +, plus no more heinan and desharnais who were terrible signings.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how this whole Miller "thing" turned out. I do hope JT is happy in NY - I loved the guy but hockey is a business that is not only about managing skill on the ice but as well - managing player contribution to esprit de corps. Allvin and Rutherford are a skilled duo - we're lucky to have them.
Looks like the gist of the deal is essentially JT Miller for Filip Chytil, Marcus Pettersson, and Drew O'Connor.....seeing it that way makes this trade actually fair
Pettersson struggles with mobility and strength, but he is a very solid puck mover and defensively with his stick. Hope the trade is great for both teams.
Vancouver overachieved and gambled last year. The right move is to blow up the team and rebuild but they won’t do it immediately like they should. It’s a similar spot as Calgary when they lost Tkachuk. If they just blew it up a year earlier they probably would have got Bedard and been a couple years away from contention, but the GM tries to rearrange the deck chairs as the ship sinks and save his own job. Now they have sub superstars in superstar positions AND mediocre draft picks due to middling in the standings. It’s the worst place to be in a cap league. Anyone who thinks this trade will solve the problem in even a serviceable capacity is kidding themselves. Miller wasn’t even that good to begin with, especially in the pacific. He’s the last elite guy you’d choose if you could. Now you have… a few guys who might work? Against Draisaitl and McDavid? It’s not hard to figure out that this plan is inadequate to solve the problem at hand.
Just need another forward maybe with a Brock trade, and for Petey to return to form. I just want to see him skate fast again. He hasn't shown his speed in over a year now. So hopefully he gets back to Alien Petey!
So... we traded an 80 to 100 point guy, for a couple of question marks. Although, I do understand that moving Miller got rid of a whole bunch of drama, I don't see how that particular trade made sense. I know they weren't going to send someone like Panarin this way, but those two guys we got make me shrug. However, I am interested to see how Petey v 3.0 is gonna do. We got rid of some dead weight for a better than average D man in that trade.
jesus the copium sigh. ok they didn't trade some bad contracts and a pick for a mid d man. They traded their best player over the last few years and a number one centerman.... Yes i hate Miller he's toxic as crap but you are sugar coating this trade WAY too much. they in no way won this trade. So they add another d GREAT they needed it but in the process gave up one of their ONLY three goal scores.... Cause that has worked out well for a lot of teams meh Defence and no one scoring what could go wrong....
canucks were forced to trade someone with a nmc. how tf do you expect them to "win" this trade. best they could do was mitigate the losses and did fairly well given the no win situation.
@ Well I guess the proof will be if he plays to his potential and if we can resign him. I’m worried that if he doesn’t sign, then the first round pick is lost for nothing? But I guess that’s what makes being a fan fun: the guessing, watching, bitching, haha.
Canucks should have looked to trade Horvat for Miller. Would have worked for both teams as Horvat had great chemistry here. In the end, we lost a lot of offensive capability and that isnt coming back soon. What if Pettersson is to thin skinned to deal with the next player who is hot headed or fans/media who are impatient? Do we then trade him too?
Pettersson is a rental. If you think he has that much value then sign him in the offseason. It seems like we do not learn from the past when we let rentals walk. If we were a legit cup contender I could understand going for a rental but we are a wildcard team. I would rather have the draft pick and hope it becomes unrestricted in 2026 or flip it for something other than a rental.
@@LeonExile05 I think that would be great but Willander at earliest will be here when his season ends. I have no problem if the Canucks sign Pettersson as a UFA next season and give up nothing. I don't think giving away a 1st is worth the chance to talk to him a bit early when he will probably want to listen to offers from other teams anyway. That would be the smart thing for him and his agent to do and he owes us no loyalty.
@@brianw3749 How do you know that? Allvin has said he has had no conversations with the agent. He will be a UFA. He would be crazy not to listen to other offers. If the Canucks are going to make an offer he can't refuse then just do it in the off-season and save the draft pick.
@@insomniac2474 I doubt you will get him in free agent. Even tanev at his advance age didn't make it to free agent his rights got traded and he got signed.
IMO the 'Nucks have a true number 1 Goalie when healthy and a great backup. Adding another Petterson on "D" really helps out the Defense and please do not trade Tom Willander. Miller will be missed no question. Now who are the Centres?
If they don't sign O'Connor and double DD Petey, this will be a total fail like the Lindholm fail last year. Makes no sense at all to just give a first round pick away as well as a pretty good prospect for nothing. With your tag line i expect to see they signed both players. That didn't happen so i don't see how it is even better than we thought. Nonsense.
I would be shipping Elias Petterssons out Vancouver too! We have no use for Drama queens stifling the growth of this team for their own inabilities to get along with team mates. 🥴 Ship him & Brock, Silovs & Raty to Buffalo for Bowen Byram, Dylan Cozens, Devon Levi and Zack Benson. 👍
Not gonna lie.. i know this is a joke but this is actually how Sweedish prospects feel.
