I would have traded Demko and Pettersen to Ottawa for Brady Tkatchuk before the playoffs. The Canucks are a good team now and they could attract free agents. Or I would have traded Demko to NJ for the younger Hughes brother. However, he is done for good now. Damaged goods.

And, you don't fake laughter. You are normal. You do talk a bit too fast but I can hear every word. You get to the point right away. Many podcasts have minutes of fluff and timewasting nothingness. So, you can say that Nobody Important likes your podcasts

what the canucks do in signings will speak volumes about demko expected time line. if the sign lankinen for 2 mil or more, they will not be confident in his recovery time.

demko had both hips operated on when he was with boston college. he has been prone to injury his entire career. he was a crap shoot as a draft pick and it doesn't look like it's going to work out.

Demko will be available for the Play offs. Until then , he will be be on the LTIR to allow the Canucks to sign a few more players to get them into the Playoffs

This isn't the first time Friedman has done his "I'm not saying I've heard this but . . ." ploy. It's his go to when he wants to spread unsubstantiated rumors, and it's not the first time he has spread false rumours about Demko. Last offseason he was going around "wondering" if the Canucks were going to trade Demko. He's the hockey equivalent of TMZ.

There seems to be a concerning pattern with player's rehabs. Examples - Pearson, Petey, Demko, Mikheyev. Hmmm. Playing through being banged-up is one thing but Mikheyev on a shredded ACL, Demko rushing to come back, Pearson's botched rehab, Petey playing when he should have recovered before the playoffs, none of these worked-out. That might also have been true for Ian Cole to finish the season, possibly OEL a couple of years ago. Whoever is making these decisions is not being very wise. If it's players who want back in the games, then someone else needs to decide for them. If it is the case that Demko had a serious ACL injury, it would be nuts to rush him back to start the season. If he was in rehab till Christmas then came back dominant and tip-top for the playoffs, that is so much more important than October games.

If it's an ACL injury I would have traded for Askarov. But since they are seriously looking at Lankinen I don't think it's a very serious injury. Martin Jones & Annti Raanta don't make a difference for Vancouver. I don't think it's an ACL injury because if it is we would have known about it months ago.

There's been a lot of times when I never thought I'd say this but... The Canucks don't need any centres. We've got JT Miller, Elias Pettersson, Teddy Bleuger, Nils Aman, and a guy who can play either in centre or on the wings we've got Pius Suter and a few AHL guys who may be able to step up if we need them. Bleuger was a big part of the Life Line of Joshua, Bleuger, Garland. We're also set on wingers, and were even unloading spare wingers that won't fit as it is. We don't need to waste any assets on players who we can't fit and won't improve the team enough to justify the assets it'll cost us to get them. Anybody we bring in, just means somebody else we either have to dump, give up to get him or lose for nothing in waivers when we can't keep them all up on the main team. There is room to improve depth on defense, but even that's in good shape and I'm happy with the top 6 core we've got, who have enough potential in them to give us a few options if anybody gets hurt or slumps off for a bit. The only question right now is the health of Thatcher Demko, and the readiness of Silovs to be a #1 for an undefined time in grind of the regular season and Petera to be a regular NHL backup, or be ready to step up as a number 1 if Silovs proves not ready for the 82 game NHL grind yet. Given Demko's injury ramifications, I'd feel more comfortable having a veteran in the system in case Demko's out for a large chunk of the season and either of the rookie goalies aren't ready yet for full NHL top goalie duties. We already saw what happened to Spencer Martin when he was thrown to the wolves in 22-23 when Demko was injured much of the season. We don't want a repeat of that with Silovs OR Patera.

I think the league is going to patch up the LTIR loophole after this trade deadline. Why? Because Demko will be set to return for game 1 of the playoffs, and Vancouver is the poster child for the league changing the rules on them
