I remember this. William Christopher (Father Mulcahy) is the narrator. The cereal wasn't bad. The writing on the box was loaded with Hawaiian catch phrases.
This was a great commercial with a catchy beat! I can still remember this commercial from August of 1967 when the Toronto Maple Leafs were the Stanley Cup champions and it was Canada's Centennial year - what memories!
IIRC Kellogg introduced it around the same time the company launched Product 19. When I first saw that ad the line about Kellogg having a new cereal made me think it was a Product 19 ad.
It was definitely the late Christopher of MASH fame playing Father Francis Mulcahy and not the late McLean Stevenson also of MASH fame whoplayed Lt.Col.Henry Blake doing the voiceover for the commercial in 1967.
I remember seeing this commercial when I was a kid. However, I also recall a similar ad in which there were two hula dancers, an adult and a little girl. I really developed a major crush on that girl because she was so pretty. I think that if I had known her when I was a boy, she might have been my girlfriend (too bad I was always so shy about girls, which is why I have never had a lover in my life). This may sound a little weird, but I still think about her to this very day; in fact (this might seem even more far out), I even have fantasies of meeting her in a private room, asking her to put on the hula costume from that commercial and dance for me, and I would sit there mesmerized by her performance, my eyes transfixed by her waving arms and her swaying hips until I go into convulsions of lust and I throw my arms around her and we both flop on the bed and make wild, passionate love, the both of us heaving loudly with sexual ecstasy, until we fall exhausted into each other's arms (no, I'm not a registered sex offender in case you're wondering). Anyway, I wish someone would put the ad with that little girl on RUclips, or anywhere else on the internet for that matter. Or maybe somebody knows of a website or a D.V.D. that has that commercial so I can see that girl again after all these years (don't tell me to look on Google because I tried already). If I could see her just one more time, I'll be satisfied. My Gmail address is mpalmierigrancia@gmail.com. In case someone wants to text that ad to me, my cellphone number is (561) 503-5940.
Yer'' @ me mum would always get me the latest new cerials and i well remember around 1972 - that's how it was advertised-like, a kids hawaiin'island called corral island & monster (slogan)
@@ausername2forget Well, the little girls in that ad were pretty, but this was not the one I was looking for. The ad I want to see again was for Kellogg's Puffa Puffa Rice. It was the little girl in that advertisement I have been in love with all these years.
I am 70 freaking years old and this song still sticks in my head!!
same here... it is a catchy tune, that's for sure!
I have not seen this commercial for years. Loved it. I wish that they still made commercials like this today
OMG! I never thought I would ever see this commercial again. It had inspired hours of hilarity and hysterical giggling with my teenage crowd. Thanks!

I gotta say, Puffa Puffa Rice was really delicious cereal.
I dont know why some company doesn't bring back a new "healthy" version of it?

Who's he?
I liked this cereal
College professors would have a field day deconstructing this but I seem to have stopped caring.,,,,,, Eyyah Eyyah.
Its William Christopher
What does diga diga bo bo, and aya aya, mean in Engish?
The voiceover was Johnny Olsen. I recognize him from game shows including The Price is Right and Match Game 7x.
It's not Johnny Olsen if you listen carefully. It is clearly William Christopher.
Nui-nui!
Was that Roger Kaputnik?
I think that it may have been Edward Andrews portraying Roger Kaputnik.
Is it the Jordanaires singing?
So where in the commercial was William Christopher?
Everyone says he was the narrator of this commercial.
Sound like Johnny Olson announcing this commercial
It isn't. It is William Christopher if you listen carefully.

When I was a little kid I thought this was a funny commercial. Now I realize it's racist garbage.
What was racist about it?
