More detailed explanation for better clarity: Approximately 100,000 people were gathered in Itaewon, a relatively small foreign district where there are lots of clubs and bars, on a Saturday night before Halloween. Itaewon at this time of the year is often crowded, however this year, the numbers were unusually high due to this year’s Halloween event being the first one after years of Covid restrictions. For those aged 18 to 21, this was the first event (for adults) they could go to. The tragedy happened on a narrow, inclined alley, which leads to the sidewalk of the main street at the bottom (which was also crowded), and at the time of the accident, there were probably hundreds, the amount which apparently was enough to literally congest it with human bodies. At around 10:40pm, people started falling down (cause still unknown) toward the bottom, which resulted in a massive pile of human bodies. In an interview done by Korean news media KBS, a mother whose daughter survived the accident said that she was told by her daughter, that she was trapped at the bottom of the pile face up to the sky, alongside a girl, a stranger, who was trapped facing down to the ground. They were encouraging each other to hang in there until the rescue comes. At first, the rescuers were trying to pull people out of the bottom, a method that wasn’t working, so they switched to pulling people out from the top side of the alley. It wasn’t until after more than an hour had passed that the rescuers reached the bottom, at which point the daughter was saved, and the other girl was found dead. It is heartbreaking news. Condolences to all the families and rest in peace to all victims.
something eerie going on. kids in their 20s dying this way on such an unholy holiholiday... stop celebrating these demonic holidays
It is hard to feel bad or sad for a tragedy that they created themselves. I hope that many people will be able to make smarter decisions rather than following those around them whenever making any decisions from now on in Korea. This is not how people should be partying.
What u said is 100% percent true ...everything should be under the limit and balanced...
I think it is not really hard to feel bad or sad for those who made bad decisions even though I agree that people could have made better decisions and should be smarter from now on
Yes, if you are involved in an accident it means that you 100% caused it. Great logic Sherlock.
@@madhououinkyoma I don’t think you correctly understand what this comment is about. Itaewon is almost always crowded with people. On that day, every street was full of crowds and they decided to be in the crowds. It looks dangerous even from a single video. Do you touch fire when you know it’s dangerous enough to burn your fingers? No. You choose to protect yourself. And they didn’t choose that way. This is somehow an expected tragedy for me as I grew up in Seoul. Itaewon is almost always crowded with people like Gangnam and Sinsa etc. but Itaewon has utmost narrow and small streets. I mean I am sorry for what happened but I also feel ashamed. They should have been wiser.
@@madhououinkyoma It's pretty obvious you aren't as smart as you believe you to be. This whole situation was cause by these so called victims crowding the whole place just to party like animals in heat. They could have avoided this by just having a normal fun time with some of their friends but instead went to cram themselves in like crazy fools. And I can't feel no sorrow for these fools cuz there were lots of them singing and jumping around while ambulances were trying to actually save lives. Get what I'm saying, young man?
I literally don’t understand why this happened. What caused them to panic? What caused it?
overcrowding is more deadly than mass shooting seriously, with mass shooting you run away. With overcrowding nobody realizes death is just around the corner
Sounds like an absolute nightmare. Almost 150 lives LOST, such senseless deaths. RIP to the deceased.
So sad. 🙏🏻 prayers to S Korea 🇰🇷 from USA 🇺🇸 . Way to often good people lose their lives just trying to live them to the fullest.
Perhaps if they had been at home, living modestly and exercising self-control, they'd be fine.
@@thisisaname5589 that’s definitely true, but can you really expect 100k kids in their late teens - 20s to stay in when this stuff happens? You’re right, don’t get me wrong, but 20 year olds want to have fun. Such a tragedy.
Halloween is an American holiday why are Koreans celebrating this?!?! 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
@@feartheghostinme675 You are mistaken when you talk only about America, it is celebrated by young people all over the world. Excuse me, but why is the Americans so limited, you are not an elite club.
@@Gunship888 I do expect it. And, someday, I hope to be a small part of a cause to force them to do what is best for them. Because, frankly, they've proven incapable of it on their own.
When the ambulance did arrive, people did not cooperate because they were mistaken as Halloween costumes. People didn't realize the seriousness until it was too late
Rip to all the lives lost fast recovery for all ingured
A month ago, there was deadly fanaticism in Indonesia.
Now, In Korea, it's also a deadly euphoria.
May there be no more tragedy of deadly pleasure for all nations.
Deep condolences from Indonesia.
condolences 💐
Travis Scott in South Korea went hard
I can't imagine goin in there and goin through this this is bad pray for the people in south Korea in Seoul 😥
From STADIUM KANJURUHAN, Kepanjen. Malang. East Java. Till ITAEWON, Seoul. South Korea.
Condolence to the entire victim for this difficult time. 🙏🏻

We have the same tragedy happened during New Year’s Eve in 1993 in Hong Kong Lan Kwai Fong. Since then, every festive season the police will ensure there’s crowd control and plan ahead for the prevention measurements
so tragic, to come together to celebrate and have lives come to such a short end. poor kids and parents
this is tragic :(
Nothing one can do in such a crowd, people should always move away from such places sensing danger.
I’m genuinely surprised how many people die due to overcrowding
Happens a lot at Hajj.
You get enough people in one place, and then they become a mindless organism, like a colony of ants. You can see this on black Friday in the US, where normally intelligent people stampede and lose their minds at the thought of getting a $50 discount on a TV in Walmart.
My deepest condolences to the families of all victims
The question still remains, what set off the stampeade? Something had to scare all those people enough that they ran over hundreds of others to get away from it.
I'm Korean, and my heart sank to hear this news. Itaewon is where lots and lots of people gather during the holiday season. I still cannot believe this happened... I am beyond heartbroken for all the victims and families.
How come whenever 'fake Korean consevative party'' come to power, every time Korea has a ''large-scale 'mass catastrophe'
that only kills the young generation???" the whole nation should think seriously!!!!!
*Park Geun-hye killed 340 young students from the 2014 Sewol Ferry drowned in the sea~
* In 2022 Yun Seok-ryeol- the world mockery killed the 200+ young people in their 10s and 20s in Itaewon were crushed and killed
Isn't it strange!????
Hell of a way to celebrate
It’s a wake up call for the rest of the countries
It's why I just stay in a small bar out in the middle of nowhere northwest Minnesota. I get uneasy feelings if even 20 people are in the bar.
Red Lake Falls?
Heh. How are you speaking in complete sentences? It's a miracle!
Alot of people dying from heart complications after the covid vaccine. 👀🤫
Social anxiety?
Crowds are fine as long as it’s in an environment than can handle it. That particular area wasn’t designed for crowds. In other parts of that city, it would have been easier.
I live in Seoul, and was going to go to Itaewon on Monday. Terrifying. Horrifying. Can't imagine the trauma of the survivors and witnesses.
Deep Condolences to the families of victims and for those who injured hope they can get fast recovery.
Condolence to the families...Rest in peace...
How could you feel safe with that many people around! Sickening to see so many bunched together like ants!
When in a large enough group, you have to stop looking at it as many individuals and start seeing it as a single mass that follows no logic aside from fluid dynamics
Definitely
My prayers goes to the family
Dear young South Koreans ...pls STOP following American or western culture...there is absolutely nothing wrong in respecting other countries culture ...BUT...blindly following them is STUPID...your country is a beautiful country...your own tradition and culture is amazing ...pls CHERISH your own culture and tradition ...pls don't do this 🙏
makes no sense!!
For a halloween party? Damn
sat...and why this one street? were there no other streets to party on? what the hell ever happened to common sense?...instead of actually preventing these tragedy's...we are sending thoughts & prayers instead!!...how dumb is the human race?!!
My condolences to beloved departed so tragic
Such a tragedy, hopefully people will be more careful in the future and maybe some occupancy rules can be put in place by the local businesses. Wishing peace to the friends and families of the victims.
This is why we should avoid such crowdy places 🙏🙏
I bet the paramedics had a hard time differentiating between costumes and actual injuries.
😯😯😯
@@inmyoffice that's what ya get for lying/faking things 🤷♂️
I only feel sorry for the medical staff and the loved ones of the injured people.
That’s actually terrifying RIP to the victims
Always mind-boggling tragedies happen in S. Korea killing young people, like that ferry tragedy. Which is why I don’t consider South Korean society fully developed despite technological advancements. RIP children of South Korea.
Pray for S.Korea from Indonesia
There were some evil people who caused the accident by pushing them from behind. People heard "push push"
Many young people like teens and 20s died. They just wanted to enjoy first Halloween since 3 years ago after covid.
150 people died from being dumbb...
Why would thousands of people force themselves into a small corridor? No sympathy
There is a subway station in front of corridor. One of the biggest.
I can't believe it's already been a year since this happened.... 😭😭💔💔💔
Halloween really became Halloween for Koreans
I so saddened and depressed right now I 😔
Rest in peace ☮️
This is what happens when you celebrate the evil ones night.
is that why little boys get touched by Priests when they celebrate God?
@@golf1925 those are not priests those are demons in the Catholic Church. If you're going to condemn evil know where it dwells.
I pray for comfort and strength for all those affected by this tragic event. "The thief (Devil) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10
It wasn't caused by overcrowding, it was caused by a stampede of people thinking there was a celebrity and you know how the Kpop crowd is over there.
That's a bogus rumor spread by people like u.. if you dont know what really happen stay quiet and stfu
No it’s not true. It’s a narrow hill with tables/ seats outside and overcrowded. People pushed from top.. when one person fell… boom.. all collapsed
No it Halloween south Korean saw real demon in the parade that what truly happened Media won't speak the truth. Halloween is wicked and evil holiday. That why Halloween is called the devil night it is his favorite holiday he can get nonbeliever and believers to gather so he can get their souls
It was reported on several sources that it was a trampling stampede caused by a sudden influx of people heavily flowing down that alleyway thinking that a celebrity was there. Do your homework.
Hi! I'm Korean. Originally, there were some news that some celebrities were in Itaewon. But it was found that these news were fake news.
They want scary?, now they got it and it's even more worse than they couldn't imagine. Hoping they will stop this kind of festivities that could truly scare your entire life.
