The cultural art centre used to be the town hall back in 95/6” please tell the others about this.. this new Old Saybrook town hall used to be the old Saybrook high and middle school..this is the true history of my town
I used to live in Connecticut. I grew up in Hartford. My parents bought our home in Bloomfield when I was 16 years old. I have been to Old Saybrook a few times. It is a beautiful, quaint town. Plenty of nice shops and restaurants, and the shoreline is just beautiful. The Long Island Sound is so breathtaking and relaxing to watch. I retired and moved to Florida 6 years ago. I enjoy living in Florida, but a piece of my heart will always belong to Connecticut. Great video. Thank you for sharing. 👍 👌
My 9th great grandpa lived in Saybrook in 1632. Then he was one of the English settlers of Norwich, who helped Uncas fight the Pequot. My 9th great grandpa got one of the first lots in Norwich. What became Post and Gager cemetery, started on part of his land.
My ancestors were with them. My relatives include street names in your town. Maynard and Ingham our half brothers. From what I have researched I can say that Saybrook Colony was NOT Puritan although the concept was there with Oliver Cromwell. The Original Merchant Adventurers included men like Bacon, Raleigh, Cecil these were people of the Court of Elizabeth that were contemporary with William Shakespeare. In fact, my Holton Ancestry included a Thomas Holton (My line is from Lyme) killed in King Phillips War includes Uzacaby Shakespear.

@@scottman895 Thank you, and Happy New Year.

@@scottman895 I'm also descended from William Bradford. His great granddaughter Hanna Bradford was my (I think) 6th great grandma.
