Nutmeg isn't essential but it does add a nice taste to the doughnuts. But you can omit it if you like and they will still be great.
I was looking for doughnut recipes , AND BAM , I'm looking at JENNY JONES . My favorite of all time. Wow, Ms. Jenny , the FLAME of ETERNAL BEAUTY has not ,FLICKERED or FADED, and NEVER WILL. This is my new favorite channel .Thanks for the recipe
To me, saturated fat is the enemy so I usually focus more on ingredients than calories but I did my best count using all the ingredients in my recipe. An average fried glazed doughnut seems to be around 250-300 calories with 50% of them from fat, mostly saturated. Mine is about 150 calories with 22% from fat and almost NO saturated fat.

Dear Jenny Love Hello Dear, I just love this recipe of yours. I am 98 yrs old and yes I must be careful what I eat. I have alot of food and drug allergies. So I have had to be careful. But this is a good recipe for me. Thank you so much Sweetheart. Someone said you retired from cooking. Well I have been retired for sometime. And I have been really bored since I did, but I love to bake. All my family has passed, so I share with my neighbors. Thank you again Dear. God Bless 👵🙏👋

For a simpler way to put the batter in the pan you could put it in a ziplock and cut off a corner:)

Ain’t nothing like real buttermilk! My maternal grandmother used to make it in wooden churn on front porch in a section of town known as The Bottom, (river front).

The easy way to fill donut pans and cake ball pans is to put your batter in a plastic bag and cut a tiny corner off the bag and fill the cavity with the batter, this works for waffles too.

suggestion for ya Jenny, saw another video where they put the batter in a ziplock baggie and cut the corner off. the batter went into the pan easily and no mess. Love your video's.

You will not get the same result by using milk. The acid in buttermilk is needed to create a puffy, airy, doughnut as well as a better taste.

I appreciate your comment but respectfully disagree. I have tried this several times and it has never worked for me. I find this milk/acid combination to be nothing like real buttermilk and it does not produce the same result that you get with real buttermilk, whether in pancakes or in baking. For these light and fluffy doughnuts, I recommend using only real buttermilk.

I won't use buttermilk either -- absolutely NO dairy for me; BUT try taking some almond milk, add a little bit of Apple Cider Vinegar to it!

BRILLIANT idea for your butter/canola mix for greasing pans!! I hate the sprays bc they leave a residue that is tough to clean on my pans.

The glaze requires icing sugar, also known here as powdered sugar or confectioner's sugar. Good luck!
