Hibernian Football Club are a massive football team based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Currently competing in the Scottish Premiership, they're one of the biggest teams in Scotland behind the Old Firm giants of Celtic and Rangers.
Hibs competed in the first ever European Cup season, have won 4 top league titles in Scotland as well as numerous other cups. What a club!
Their stadium, Easter Road, is one of my favourites in Scotland!

luv the vids
Cheers mate!!
Probably my favourite video so far. Hibs also have a mention in the history of the FIFA Club World Cup as they won the first ever football match dubbed as a Football world championship when they beat Preston NE in 1887.
Ah nice thanks!
Thank you as a Hibs fan you did us proud
Need to come to an Edinburgh Derby when we can get back into stadiums!
Mon the Hibs
Definitely!!
Let us know when you're coming we'll all meet up for a pint, make a good vid. Hibs stylie!
Hearts will win the derby
@@kevinfacts5200 Why do you not comment on the vid that was done for hearts - oops, there ain't one.
@@kevinfacts5200 hearts are shit
Superb video yet again Sam, i remember watching the Hibee's on TV in the 70's giving the likes of the mighty Leeds and Liverpool sides a real fright in European games, plus as a Jags fan i'm proud that Firhill was the first Glasgow ground to host a European game as Djurgardens home venue as bad weather in Sweden meant they couldn't play at home so they chose Firhill as their home park. Keep them coming.
Even though you find it hard to imagine Hibs and Hearts combining, they used to do it. I recall attending the pre-season charity games in the 1950's, held alternately each year at each other's ground, with an "Edinburgh Select" team, made up from the two clubs. The visiting guest teams were from England's 1st Division (now the English Premier League). The grounds were packed and the fans from each club stood shoulder to shoulder in friendship with never a hint of animosity.
The rivalry wasn't so black and white back in those days. My Grandad was from Irish immigrant stock, but, supported Hearts. He would attend matches at Tynecastle and then at Easter Road the following saturday. Fortunately both my father and his father were Hibs supporters or I could have turned out a wrong'un!!
Also had a select team in 80s I think playing maybe a German team as part of the Edinburgh Festival played in black and white.
Best football channel on RUclips by a long shot. 👍🏼
Cheers much appreciated!!
Definitely! I'm a rangers fan but I love learning about all of scottish football and he does that
Honestly, this is my favourite channel on RUclips nowadays, watched all your vids of the 42 grounds. You really do your homework, and I really appreciate your hard work. GGTTH 🇳🇬⚽🇳🇬
Thanks very much! Appreciate you watching all the 42! More coming soon 👍👌
@@FootyAdventures good to hear mate 👌🏻 it's not often that an Englishman shows any interest in Scottish football at the top end, never mind the lower league clubs. It's refreshing to see 👍🏻
Brilliant video, this is why I’m proud to be a Hibs fan🇮🇪 🇳🇬 could tell you had a soft spot for Hibs from your previous video on the Edinburgh derby.
Keep up the Scottish content, I'm loving it 🏴
Thank you!
Cheers mate. This is the video I have been waiting for 😁😁😁🇳🇬
Hope you enjoyed it!
Another great video.
I'm actually a 15 minute walk from the ground, my club.
Keep vids coming, well done visiting all clubs 👍👍
Great Video! I use to live near the Hibs stadium and was able to see it from my bedroom window. Despite being a Hearts fan, I would enjoy seeing a sea of people in green going down Albion Road to the stadium. Being Canadian and growing up with Hockey fandoms, it was really nice experiencing sports fans getting into the spirit of their team in another country. One thing I would never do would wear anything red and or maroon when a game was on. Being a Montreal Canadian fan, Hib fans would mistaken the Habs' logo for the Hearts as my Dad discover when he would visit Scotland.
Thanks for the videos! I've learnt a lot about Scottish football from them
Glad you like them!
Nice one Sam,
Great history of the team as usual.
Keep up the great work and stay safe.

Excellent vid. Your best so far. Great research done for it👏👏👏
Glad you think so!!!
You should give trivia on stadiums capacity, when stands were built when renovated and if there are still original parts of a stadium still remaining. Great vlogs 🏟️🙌
Great video the quality keeps going up
Cheers! Glad you think so!
Your videos keep on getting better and better!!!
Happy you think so!

You mentioning the malmo game brought back bad memories 😂 my first ever Hibs game my dad took me to and we got hammered
Haha, sorry about that! Cheers for watching!
Hibs often get hammered
@@FootyAdventuresironically I think hibs biggest win in Europe was also v Malmo
I thoroughly enjoyed that👌👌
Glad to hear it!!
Great knowledge & research. 👏
🥰🥰🥰
@Footy Adbentures that was marvellous the only thing you didn't mention was George Best played for us and Frank Sauzee and Hibees were first team to have Shirt sponsors shirts BUKTA was the sponsor and sports manufacturer. Top marks you did a wonderful job well done 10/10 bud. Blessings in Christ Jesus from a Protestant Hibee fan I witnessed League Cup wins Scottish Cup both Drybrough Cups and annihilating Sporting Lisbon 6-1 when genius Alex Edwards ran the show! Oh to be a HIBBY!!
Thanks so much for watching! Oh yeah of course they were great players! Always hard not to miss something out. Anyway glad you enjoyed :) Thanks again!
@@FootyAdventures KEEP on keeping on you have a bright future ahead Samuel (I think that's your name) you're switched on bud.
Some of the best years of my life was living in Edinburgh, and Hibs was my team. That was over 20 years ago but I remember watching living matches at Easter Road so clearly.
I’ve long since moved back to Canada and while I’ve supported Toronto FC as a season ticket holder since before the club played its first game; Hibernian FC and all its fans and supporters still holds a very special place in my heart.
Cheers from Canada, and thank-you for the great video! 🇨🇦🏴
Very interesting - good job ☝🏻

Keep Up The Good Work Mate 💫
Thanks 🔥
Brilliant videos 🏴👍

Fantastic !!! Come on The Hibees !!!
You were right round the corner from St Mary St where they were founded.
First team to have sponsorship on their shirts. Bukta. 1977/78. I think.
Great video. Of course the irony is the Celtic fans that sing "And of you know your history", when few of them actually do. Hibernian FC, FIRST to wear the green. #GGTTH
Wasn't there a team called Dundee Celtic first?
@@jamiewilson5679 no dundee hibernian then became dundee utd
@@euanstirling3508 ah cheers.👍
@@euanstirling3508 You beat me to it.
@@jamiewilson5679 celtic actually considered the name Glasgow hibernian and when they chose Glasgow celtic a member of the board resigned because he didn't like the name and started a team in Glasgow called Glasgow hibernian. They played in green and get this... Maroon!!!
Not as much in the football sense but there was a train station called Hibernian park right outside the ground think it was in 1950/60s
I like your lack of bias - op marks
Great video mate

Scottish football forever!

Great video
Our you watching the rangers hibs game tonight ⚽️⚽️⚽️🏴🏴🏴
First team to have sponsors on the strip. First to have a scoreboard and first to have floodlights.
They spent money on a scoreboard that only the away fans could see. 😆
@Uncle Gilbert don't get the rest of us mixed up with a team desperate for some relevance. Who boasts about pish like that?
I am a Southampton fan but Hibs are my second/Scottish team since my great grandad was an Ulster Scot, makes sense cause the club is Scottish & Irish

Great video of my fellow Irish who were forced to come to Scotland because of the genocide. Thanks very much Simon. You’re right, I bet there’s not many who knew they got to the Semi-Final of the inaugural European Cup .
I was there when we beat malmo 6-0 at easter road still got programe.
Just did a re-run on this. Did Hibs at the establishment of Celtic, give them 5 players to get started?
I think you touched on hibs having 1st undersoil heating 1st floodlights 1st shirt sponsor 1st Scottish team to play European football but how about Hibs going to Brazil and teaching them the beautiful game! Research that 😎
@Tony Kelevra, im a brazilian Hibs fan. Unfortunely, I have to tell you that the participation of Hibernian in Rivadávia Correa Meyer Cup was 1 draw, 2 losses. Not exactly, teaching. .
That was when Hibs had great directors, real visionaries. We suffered from dodgy directors
"I would rather have a sister in a brothel than a brother in a hearts scarf!"
given your leanings youd probably find that that sister was also your mother, hibs class
Would you know the origins of a team in Malta🇲🇹 called Hibernians any connection to Hibs of Scotland ?
Maybe Irish connection
The Merger was really a takeover. They would have been called Hearts and played in maroon. Hibs would have formed again starting at the bottom. So I don’t imagine the merged team would have had a much bigger fan base than the clubs currently have.
Brilliant
Thanks Kevin!
Super video gretings from México
Thank you very much! Gracias!
The amount of petrol u must go through mate 😂😂
Haha hoping it all pays off one day
Interesting video. Long felt Hibs seem an interesting club and a fun team to support.
So the question of how an Edinburgh merger would have fared?
Firstly as we have learned from your videos Scot’s football it’s about Community and solidarity. It’s not all about winning.
Trying to somehow rival the ‘Old firm’ isn’t what the fan base are after. I think it would’ve been a terrible mistake. More like a franchise FC, a kind of MK Dons.
Clubs like Hibs and Hearts have real identity and meaning. It would have just alienated real fans.
Seeing Hibs fans belt out ‘Sunshine on Leith’ is truly spine tingling and moving. Moments like that is what fans are seeking.
Having watched Hibs play QOTS in October 2016 and goin back to Carlisle on the train the Hibs fans were have a good laugh. It’s that camaraderie that supporting football is about.
I just don’t think a merger would work with two proper clubs like these two. I think half the fans would have just walked away.
I lived in Hull, I followed the Rugby league. I supported HKR. No one would have swapped their club for a merger with Hull FC even if this guaranteed success.
Identify and belonging is everything. Winning is just a bonus.
Great response. Couldn't agree more with all your points 👍 thanks for watching as ever 📽😊
This guy is rising fast
Do some Premier League gameweek prediction.
Hibeeees💚
Before they got the Easter rd ground they played in powderhall
Could u do a video Like this on st mirren
🤣🤣
Did Rangers not win by 10 goals in the Europa league qualifying rounds against st Joespehs last year?
Loss vs malmo
We are not religious, we are a Scottish football club from the capitol that is all. We are very different from Celtic.
You forgot Champions of the World 1887 beat Preston North End 2-1 in the final
😀👍⚽️🇳🇬🏆
Mon the Hibs 💚🤍
Get into a Hibs v Hearts game next time. Sit in the south stand. You’ll never ever forget it. It’s so constantly loud.
Hopefully Edinburgh can match Glasgow soon.
Will never happen 🤦🏻♂️👊🏻
What about wolves with flood lights in the mid 50s who played in Europe.
They still weren't the first & only British club to compete in the 'very first' European Cup competition though, which is what the fact was. The very first European Cup was in 1955-56, Hibs were the only British club invited to play that year.
It's hard to say what a united Hibs/Hearts would've done. How many fans would they have had? I remember it well when the news broke that Wallace Mercer at Hearts had made the proposal, an already fierce rivalry intensified ten fold. I really don't think many fans would've supported a united team.
Hearts and Hibs try to emulate the Old Firm rivalry, the 'Proddies' and the 'Tims'. Hearts have a real anti catholic element to their fan base and to many are seen as the 'Mini Huns' , Hibs, obviously with their roots and tradition are seen as the Irish catholics ( even though they don't actually associate with the nationalism or religion associated with Celtic), so it's my belief the venture, had it actually gone ahead would've been doomed to failure. I don't believe they'd have had a fan base to work with, so the death of two clubs with history and tradition would've been for nothing.
Hibernian originally only signed Catholics unlike Celtic. Also I think some Hibernian fans do still associate themselves with Irish nationalism just maybe not the religious element of it. Outside of Scotland Irish nationalism and Home Rule is not something that's frowned upon.
Believe it would of failed both sets of fans against it! Edinburgh is big enough for the 2 clubs
@SRSM1314 Good to see. Being an Irish Republican doesn't by default make you a supporter of the IRA. Any rightminded person should believe in Ireland's right to self determination.
I think if it wasnt for religion Hearts could be the only club in edinburgh and be closer to competing with celtic but I think Hibernian would have reformed anyway
To ignore the fact that Hibernian were the first British team to beat both real Madrid and Barcelona is unforgivable
💚👍
Hibs aren’t in Edinburgh mate… it’s called Leith.
