  • Today I thought I’d finally do some Hibs content and go over the story of how the club was founded in 1875. In the video I will cover: The historical backdrop, Key facts, Key dates, Key events, Key figures, some other interesting information and of course the club’s legacy. I really enjoyed making this video so I hope you guys really enjoy watching it. As always thank you all so much for the amazing support you give me. Remember if you enjoyed the video leave a like and if your new please subscribe.

    Celtic supporter here. I also used to go to Partick Thistle games with my uncle back in the early '90s, so I've stood in the away terracing at the old Easter road a couple of times... back when the old shed to our right was still heaving with Hibs casuals! 😆 My sister also moved from here in Glasgow to Leith in the late '80s, so I became familiar with the area and have always had a fondness for Hibs. I don't want them to beat my team, but I don't cry about it if they do 😀
    One of my colleagues is a big Hibee, and Leith boy, so I'll send him a link to this video. He might not pay for an Internet service though, as he's a stereotypical Edinburger... as tight as two coats of paint!! 🤣🤣
    Great video, btw - very enjoyable and informative 👍

    Looking at the dates on comments being a year ago, guess I’m late to arrive at party. Congratulations on a fantastic and enjoyable watch. 👍 My auld man hates football ( 22 men chasing a bag of air ).. sometimes I see his point, however, when you uncover the history and origins of a club it’s much more than chasing a bag of wind. You sir have nailed it.

    I'm a Celtic fan, but the history of Hibs is built on good principles. The Celtic tour of the stadium actually mentions how Hibernian helped Celtic get founded. Think Dundee United were first called Dundee Harp, but they didn't want to many Irish influences in the league. That was a cracking watch mate 👍

    • @JackGillies

      1st of all thank you glad you enjoyed the video 😀 to be honest both Hibs and Hearts have lost that part of their identity however there is a section of fans that keep it going (not that I condone it or support it) Hibs and Hearts is a rivalry mostly based on geography now

    Yes, the similarities with Celtic are obvious! The name Glasgow Hibernians was mentioned to Brother Walfrid! But he had other ideas! However, sorry to say, it's a VERY plodding video! You seem to be in a rush and also stifling burps? If you had just ate or drank something you should have waited at least an hour before going near a mic! Also, never say ' Don't quote me on that'! A life story requires proper research, you can't guesswork anything! No insult's intended! Thanks for the Celtic mentions even though they had to be there!😊

    Good video , but can't see how the founding of the club helped integration, it was a Irish club for the Irish in Scotland , also to play you had to be a practising RC , club was named after the Latin name for Ireland , the badge was Irish , yes sectarianism was rife , but Hibernian were part of it ,

    • @user-pw6gm1tu6q
      @user-pw6gm1tu6q 8 месяцев назад

      they dont fly one and never will,i think the one u are referring to is maybe the casuals flag which is in the same design as a union jack but its green white and black i think its just a statement from the hooligans that they are secular fans with no connection to ireland and maybe to differentiate between the casuals and ordinary fans,maybe even had slight right wing connotations as alot of hooligan groups did,i dont know any of this for fact its just my take on what it might be you would have to ask the guy who got the flag made and flies it,its in no way a representation of the support as a whole
