I happened upon this video by chance while looking for a live performance of Vaughn Williams "Hodie". could not find that, but I found this which is often paired with recordings of "Hodie". I haven't been so moved in quite a while. This was so beautiful in every way it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for this wonderful Christmas present. 🎄🎄🎄🎄
Excellent performance and recording - under difficult circumstances. I grew up in Britain without hearing this once but found it on an album of VW later. I've never heard a performance except on album or RUclips in my lifetime. Oh, Britain, and Oh world! What are you missing.
Love this version. What a wonderful young conductor and the choir and orchestra are excellent. Super soloists too. Thank you for posting such a beautiful recording!
I love seeing European orchestras playing this great music. And I love the highlighting on Mr Kornel's score. Great performance all round. It's actually quite a difficult piece.
Magnificent - sweet, somber, sonorous, splendid, star-bright...I love the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, and this conductor, orchestra, choir, baritone solo - and very setting - make it even more magical. Also love the diversity of musicians - some quite dressy, others in leather jacket or fatigues; the Baroque-style church with 11 altars; the splendour of icons' scratched and scarred walls...this feels to me like a church where great things happen.
I've never seen or heard anything like this! Bravo! I will never forget it. Everything works, including the raw voice of the soloist. And the visuals lend credence to the text. AND what fun to watch the conductor. Thank you.
Bravo Peter, Kornel, and the whole choir and orchestra. This is one of my favourite pieces of Christmas music of all time, and I don't think I've ever heard a better recording of it, invested with such spirituality. A masterpiece of a recording.
Bravo!! One of the very few live recorded versions I could find here on YT. Chorus and Orchestra are both quite excellent! Will be posting this on FB later today.

Beautiful beyond words...my favourite Christmas music of all time. Such a rich and diverse performance, and in a setting made heavenly by it.
Oh my. That's incredible.
Excellent performance

Wow, the violins and the cellos and that choir . I am going to agree with those below...... this is the best Christmas music
Unearthly beauty in this fine performance and recording.

A first class performance , they all looked as though were enjoying themselves.
Thanks very much for sharing this! It is a pleasure to hear and watch this.
It looks like it must have been FREEZING in that church. The conductor is having fun anyway.
LOVELY!
Wonderful. Thank you. Blessings and Godspeed.
