Because the last mini events didn’t have a countdown timer. Fortnite doesn’t use countdown timers unless it’s a BIG event. This event should’ve been longer and had its own queue to warrant the timer.

I watched it in person, it was AWESOME!!! I wasn't able to see the Dr Doom/Wanderer logo though. Also if you were right next to the explosion at redline, you would get launched back. I was there, so I knew
My main issue with this event was that they literally had us waiting for 4 days had a whole countdown timer which normally indicates live events which we haven’t gotten in like forever just to get nuh uh by doctor doom and for nothing to be destroyed despite the fact that a ginormous explosion happened at redline it’s completely chilling
they gave us a countdown because people were complaining that we had to keep estimating when mini events happened and last time we kept being wrong which was mad annoying everyone knew this was nothing more than a mini event anyways
The timer was necessary to inform people of the mini event, if not we would have to estimate when it would happens and people don’t like that. Expecting this mini events to be like proper big boy events is not a good idea because of course they are not made with the same amount of time

And for you to be able to play (if you have a code), you need to find the custom matchmaking key tab in your discoveries and write your creator code in there. Hope this helps 😊 Though, if I didn't explain clearly enough, just search for 'how to play a custom match' in fortnite.
