One thing I always liked about the Transporter. He always had a super expensive and heavily modified luxury car but not one that was super eye catching. He needed bleeding edge performance but not the attention a Bughatti would bring. His little black car could blend right in with traffic.

Statham had way more screen presence and a mysterious Intensity about him. No one, I repeat, no one, can replace him. And not to forget, that his fighting prowess was on another planet!

It's funny how the parking garages are always nearly empty in these movies or how they have a gun but choose to use a knife until after they get beat down 🙂
I am sure artistic license and plot has more to do with this than anything. But in some countries, a knife might get you 1 to 5 years, where using a gun might get you 20 or more years, assuming just assault.
I love how in these movies you got one dude who can kick a group of 10 ppls asses...the last guy to get his ass kicked still tries to fight. I mean, if I was guy #10 watching this one dude kick the first 9 other guys asses, I'd just be like...OK you win.
Can't beat Jason, he's perfect for this role & when I watched this, I was so let down. Nothing against Ed Skrein, he's a quality actor & I usually enjoy his movies. But this is like recasting Loki with Vin Diesel, it just wouldn't work.
I think the problem is Jason was made for this role. Some people you can't replace. Same thing with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone , can you imagine if they replaced these guys with some random actors after they made some of there iconic movies!. When you get used to something its very hard to imagine anything different!
This scene sums up every ridiculous action movie cliché ever: 1. Bad guys conveniently attack one at a time; 2. Bad guy with gun inexplicably stays within the hero's reach; 3. Bad guy gets distracted by something ridiculous (the trunk getting opened); 4. Nonsensical technology (doors that open fast enough to knock out the people standing next to them: why would a car manufacturer ever do that?!); 5. Overconfident hero giving a speech while beating bad guys.
Yes to all except the car technology. A car manufacturer would not do that but something an after-market shop would do, including steering wheel sensors. There are specialty shops just like the ones that would install stereos.
I just love watching this scenes where the young whippersnappers get just what they deserved. All kidding aside, this type does actually get what they deserve eventually. Gang bangers do not have long life expectancies. Same goes for people in organized crime. Karma applies in both cases.

Actually it's a tough call. You automatically look for Statham and his mannerisms and are a lot of us are disappointed when we don't see them, doesn't mean this guy can't make the part his. He's catching all the hate down here, but apart from yes, Statham just being an absolute unit, I like his take on it as well. In fact, all things considered, he frankly comes across as more realistic. Statham is always that one notch past "believable". This guy has a quiet professional swagger Jason doesn't.

Ive only driven an S5 but they sure are great sounding engines in these Audis. At least they are not afraid to still put something decent under the bonnet instead of the usual 2 litre turbo which seems to be in everything else.

That really bugs me,at first I thought it looked really cool,the person having his trigger finger along the trigger guard but after a while it started to really annoy me...For one example,I've seen cops facing off two or more crims armed with guns pointed at him (in movies ofcourse),but is he ready to defend himself...no ofcourse not because his finger is not on the trigger..Being taught gun safety is all well and good but there is a time and place when that finger should be ready to pull that trigger in a micro second..Sorry,but that's my personal opinion.
I won't bash Ed Skrein so fast, he's good for what he was given, it's just that it simply he can't compete with Statham Fighting Prowess and charisma, but he didn't actually did a bad job, he was decent enough and captured Frank Martin's calm, cunning and stoic personality in the film, too bad Europacorp couldn't reach an agreement with Statham for him to return, but it's their fault for trying to continue without him.
