    He's the only prominent black cinematographer I know in the industry and we are lucky to have him.

    I love his philosophy to light (the minimalism, and real approach), I can learn so much from him.

    an artistic/creative voice is ALWAYS why you hire ANY kind of creative !!! recording engineers, cinematographers, photographers, film editors, fashion designer etc... why (as the employer) would you want ANYTHING else ?!? an artist is a sponge and sees the world in a unique way - and reacts to it in a unique way - and unique is why you hire someone - and like Bradford said - why you don't. #peace #coffee #justshoot

    I used to think that patience and understanding that you can't always win were silly things to know in comparison with lighting and shot composition. But on my first project I quickly realized I was very very VERY wrong.

    Why always for young cinematographer? Why not for older people starting out as well. If I was a modern snowflake I'd say that is ageist! 😂

    I came back two days later to make this comment, bc I was so haunted by the ignorance in this video that it kept me up last night. What did his friend say, something like “I don’t need to watch spy movies about international super villains because my uncle spends a lot of money at his tailor” and just like that dismisses all of the hard creative work of so many people. Bc his uncle spends money on clothes. God humans are so confused and stupid. I don’t need to watch Arrival bc I took foreign language in high school right? Ugh!!!! Thunderball was an amazing film. To dismiss it outright completely is to revel in ignorance.

      Have you watched every film ever made? No, you enjoy what you enjoy and watch what you want to. His friend said he wasn’t interested in James Bond for whatever reason. He didn’t dismiss it or denigrate it. Just didn’t feel the need to watch them. I’m confused as to why someone’s else preference for what movies they watch has anything to do with ignorance or with you.

    • @sFoster83
      @sFoster83 4 года назад +2

      @@matrixmanify What kind of straw man argument is that? There are thousands of poorly conceived indie films with no marketing made every year! to watch thousands of movies a year is far more than the world record, so no i dont beat the world record of watched movies year after year after year. your line of questioning is absurd and irritating.

      Young isn't dismissing the James Bond films--his comment isn't even really about them. His point is that he realized there is immense beauty in the smallest of things on par with the grandest of stories, and he wants to try and illuminate those moments as a cinematographer.
