You are now, officially, the most anticipated, excitement inducing content creator in my subscriptions list! May the Babe Bus continue on it's mission of discovery and wonder for as long as you desire! P.S. I want to point out the greatest treasure that you have shown us in all of these videos and that is you, Casey Roman!
I volunteered for the haunted caves in early 2000s. My dad got the city to let us use the trolley for our storyline on the drive down to the park outside of the entrance. Love my hometown, hate the fact that my brother graduated with Tim McVeigh.
If you weren't the narrator, I would never have watched this video, but you made it interesting! You are a treasure and you should start your own alternative media channel. The lame-stream media doesn't deserve you! Thank you for caring, your integrity and especially your je ne sais quoi!!!
Whatttt??? You came to my town and I didn’t get to take a selfie with the Babe Bus! I Guess I still have to keep imagining how tall you actually are. I’m a staff photographer with the Lockport and Niagara newspapers and I’ve many friends in your profession here. You seem to be born to tell stories! Before heading out to do a hot story one day, an editor once said to me, and I think it suits you, “Have Fun and Show No Fear.” Safe travels.
Another great video! Expecially, enjoyed the ending, I'm like no way glass milk bottles...takes me back to when I was little, mom would drop me off mid-milk route to my grandma (grandpa was a milkman, yes I was the milkman granddaughter) and got to ride in the milk truck, they stood to drive. That was his morning job, in the afternoons he ran his gravel truck business. Thank you for memory lane.
Love your videos. Hope you get your passport soon. Come to Canada. If you come over the bridges in Niagara Falls, we have Clifton hill, Niagara on the Lake, the screaming tunnel, Nightingale mill, longest running flour mill run by water wheel, the Welland Canal in St. Catharines and so many other interesting things to check out.
Another wonderful video. Those caves made me want to put on my shoes and follow you in. I just love learning more and more about these jewels of small towns. Thank you for sharing.
You learn something everyday thank you for being my teacher wow....fantastic history lesson. I think all these signs that say no photography or video should say except for Casey lolll cause she is gonna get it with or without permission lollll
Honestly, I would love to spend some time in the near undiscovered gem of Lockport and explore those caves and ruins. What a great 10 minutes of my day, Casey Roman. Thanks.
What a great little town I will make sure I stop and see that when I am over that way for sure you do such a great job representing a town that could definitely use a boost keep being yourself and Lord knows you will you're awesome keep on keepin on sweetheart
Outstanding video! I started watching your channel because you are a fellow van-dweller (I will be soon). But you surprised me by your expert level of video making and I very much appreciate you showing us around parts of America I have never heard of, let alone will likely never see in person. I like to follow other channels who are related to van life in some way and sadly though I would have never discovered your channel had it not been for that. So, Thank you.
Your presentation of Lockwood was prolific. Who knew all the wonderful things found in this little town. Many thanks for your journey, it has been enlightening. 👍😁♥️
No one can tell history events like you!! You make it come alive. The one thing that sets your videos apart from others is your voice......it's not scratchy and boring!!!
Damn Girl. I wanna roll with you. The camera moves are getting better and better. And your producing is on point. This has got to be the biggest middle finger to your former employer. They have no idea what they've lost. Keep telling those stories!
I'm so glad you're in New York State, so much history and cool things to explore there. I'm originally from the Hudson Valley's Rhinebeck/Hyde Park area. There are quite a few historic buildings with beautiful architecture there. A real gem near Hudson, NY is Olana, the home of Hudson River School painter, Frederic Church. Olana is a gorgeous and unique structure. I thought I'd mention that in case you made your way to that area. I really enjoyed seeing the caves of Lockport and history of the town. Wonderful video. Safe travels!
Casey, another great story you are reporting on. Love your stories and places you tell us about. Please continue to always strive your best and bring us all you have. You are wonderful. 🤩🤗☺😉
Damn. How have I never *Heard* of Lockport. If you ever get that whole Visa thing fixed - you should think about coming on up to the Rideau Canal. It looks like they used similar technology to our Eastern Ontario version. Hope the plans for a photography exhibit are proceeding ahead. Cathy, Out o'Ottwa/Bytown
The "Flight of Five" locks are and were an absolutely amazing feat of 19th century engineering. The 60 foot rise was initially a freakin' cliff that they had to blast through and figure out a way to raise the boats from bottom to top. What you can see today in Lockport is the 2nd iteration of the flight of five. At some point when technology improved they were able to covert part of it to a two lock system (2 instead of 5) that carries boat traffic in modern times -- but the flight of 5 (decommissioned) is still there for all to admire. In terms of Erie Canal history, this is as good as it gets!
Just got back from Lockport with a group of youth from our church in western Maryland. Had a great visit. Spent three nights there seeing the sites and using it as a home base to explore Niagara and Buffalo as well. Thumbs up to Best Western, Erie Canal Discovery Center, Papa Leo's Pizza, and more!
I can’t believe this. First you’re in Texas just mins from me ..Hamilton’s pool, Austin. I was sooo excited. Now I’m mins from Lockport visiting family n Amherst. When you were talking about Canada and NY, I told my sister “OMG, my favorite RUclipsr is probably in this area”... very exciting since the 20th is one month in my van. So I’ve been looking for you..grew up in the Lockport area..small harbor town called Wilson that has a great history because during prohibition the town was one of the safest areas to get into with their bootleg. Check it out if you’re still in the area. Luv ya girl!
Fantastic job! Love the “side door” entrance! I keep telling myself I will get out and explore these places but I am having to enjoy them through your beautiful work. Thank you!
Just wanted to let you know I appreciate your talent for story telling & movie making. Your videos are always very interesting, informative & well made. Like mini documentaries! Thank you for sharing your work with us!👍🏼
Beautiful place I haven't been there in awhile .. You're so close to me now :) Around a 100 miles away from Watkins Glen .. If you come this way I have property you can stay on .. Would love for others to come stay for awhile as well .. All off grid for now .. Working on getting some hookups .. Are Gorge and Falls are so beautiful
I''m living in my van and traveling around New York. I have Dansville as a home base to moochdock, save a little money and then head out again. I have been to Watkins Glen area, but for health reasons in the past have never got into the gorge/park. Tis in my plans soon. So fellow Babe Bus follower-- I'm curious and interested in your offer. Not sure how to share contact info. Thanks Mark.. will try to find you on FB
Ahh another Lesson from the Professor... The Erie Canal is amazing I hope you decide to grace us with visits along its path in future programs. Read thru your comments the one mentioning Woodie Allen is absolutely priceless!!! You deserve a Crew &Budget to continue to tell such interesting stories and please don’t do something dumb like fall in love. We need more of your wit charm and personality. Peace
I have heard of Lockport, having been doing sound for a band back in oh, 1979 or so and we played for one night at some place that was around there. Wasn't in town, though, and I sure didn't know about most of the stuff you touch on here. Interesting stuff! :-)
About 10 years ago, during a visit to Niagara Falls, we took a side trip to Lockport and took a ride on the Erie Canal. The Erie Canal was something I learned about in school. This little side trip was an eye opener. The Erie Canal was built almost 100 years before the Panama Canal. It is 363 miles lohg and originally used 82 locks to raise the water almost 600 feet. The longest canal in the US at that time was 26 miles long. It was built, through wilderness, using nothing but primitive tools, animal power, and black powder, and completed in 8 years. When it opened, the cost shipping goods from the Midwest to the Atlantic dropped to 1/10 it's original cost. If you're ever in northwestern NY, I highly recommend it.
Question, Can anyone explain, how it is possible, the Panama Canal (48 miles long /10 years to build), built 87 years after the Erie Canal can have a construction rate of 4.8 miles per year while the Erie Canal has a construction rate of 45 miles per year. That is an 837.5% difference.
Wow .... I nearly missed this one ..... I was most likely spreading Mulch in my beds ... all 130 bags ... took me a couple of days.....Yes pretty good for being almost 180 years old... Hehee..... Thanks for sharing .... Hugs ... Shirlene
"Divorced his wife and married his adopted daughter"
I had NO idea about Woody Allen's connection to the Erie Canal.
@Chimp 6 I'm ROFLMAO at your comment. TYVM
Yes, but that was in the late 1800s early 1900s. People's opinions were much more strict back then.
Another good one!!! 👍😁😁😁

I volunteered for the haunted caves in early 2000s. My dad got the city to let us use the trolley for our storyline on the drive down to the park outside of the entrance. Love my hometown, hate the fact that my brother graduated with Tim McVeigh.

I wish this was a weekly tv series....So enjoy you!
I live in Lockport. It sucks. I knew some of the history behind the caves, but not all of it
This is close to my hometown and I didn’t know about the cave tour. Girl you are amazing.
If you weren't the narrator, I would never have watched this video, but you made it interesting! You are a treasure and you should start your own alternative media channel. The lame-stream media doesn't deserve you! Thank you for caring, your integrity and especially your je ne sais quoi!!!
Another wonderful video from a small town I hadn’t heard of. Very interesting place. You excel with these types of videos and I look forward to them.

So... it is a relative of Woody Allen? If I were to visit this is where I would want to come, not the noisy NewYork city but these "rural" areas.

@@PH_INFO_101 -- Both were incredibly difficult, but the Panama Canal had to deal with Yellow Fever and Malaria, a rainy season and mud slides.
